It’s big news when we are on Facebook big time! Who would have thought? But it is great fun to post pictures of where we are and what we are doing, so if you’re on facebook, friend us and check it out! Please post your quilt creations on our page, we want to see what you’re up to, too!

Bernina University was busy and full of fun classes and informative lectures, but we stole away a few evenings to take in the sights of San Antonio, Texas. The river walk is lovely with tons of restaurants and shops. It was hot, but we enjoyed the river boat tour and seeing the Alamo. Sandra was in seventh heaven with all the history around us. We brought back new info from great classes at BU on embroidery, quilting, serging, sewing and more!

The Quilt Motion is amazing! You can see how it works during our Back to School Open House, Sept 8, 9 & 10. Join us for discounts and demos and to see the new class samples and sign up for classes! Mark your calendar for Thursday evening to meet the teachers and get help from the experts!

BPQ continues our Sunday Finishing School with one of our teachers and we are bringing back our Friday night open sew by popular request! So, join us for one or both of these to work on your UFOs or to start a new project while you enjoy the company of other quilters.

Washington State Quilter’s quilt show is October 14, 15 & 16. This is a great quilt show and vender mall. Stop by our both to say “hello” and see what’s new!

We look forward to seeing your creative ideas as we all head back into our sewing rooms and get ready to start new projects and finish those UFO’s this fall.

From Kathryn and Sandy

National Teacher - LIBBY LEHMAN THREADPLAY I: THE BASICS - $85Sunday, October 9 12:00-5:00 LIBBY LEHMAN began making quilts 38 years ago when her mother, Catherine Anthony, signed them up for a basic class. Over the years she has evolved from a traditional handworker to one of the leaders in innovative machine stitching. Her studio art quilts have won many awards and appear in private, corporate, and museum collections, including VISA International, Fairfield Processing Corporation and Cogen Technologies. She is the author of Threadplay with Libby Lehman (That Patchwork Place, 1997) and her quilts have appeared in many books and international publications. Her quilt Joy Ride was chosen as one of the Best 100 American Quilts of the 20th Century. This workshop concentrates on exploring different machine stitching techniques to give your quilts an individual and unique flavor. In order to learn as many different styles as possible, students will develop samples rather than completing a class project. The following will be covered: sheer ribbon illusions, satin and decorative stitching, and potluck appliqué. Each student must have a zigzag sewing machine in good working order.
