They even have backpackers from around the world who stop in for the evening and end up staying for training. In the summer, the center holds age-specific camps, ranging from 7-years-old to 20-years- old. “We need to equip a generation to be warriors that are gentle, that are passionate, yet fierce for the things that God is fierce for.” The Gotz's are also serving in various other ministries, including a Bible study John leads with the local military. The program focuses on character development and temptations the soldiers are faced with. Recently, they were asked to extend the ministry to the police force.

Training Up Disciples

News from the Gotz Family: Serving in Belize

John and Lisa Gotz are currently serving in Belize, operating the discipleship training center called Machaca. During a recent interview at The Packinghouse, John explained that while they were in Albania, they had a vision that God wanted them to start training up disciples.

The vision became a reality when Pioneers Missions Organization gave Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa a camp and 253 acres of land. John and Lisa went down as short-terms missionaries to help with the transition. Nine years later, they are both still serving at the discipleship center.

The center is open year-round, with students coming in from the United States as well as Belize. They even have backpackers from around the world who stop in for the evening and end up staying for training. In the summer, the center holds age-specific camps, ranging from 7-years-old to 20-years-old. “We need to equip a generation to be warriors that are gentle, that are passionate, yet fierce for the things that God is fierce for.”

The Gotz's are also serving in various other ministries, including a Bible study John leads with the local military. The program focuses on character development and temptations the soldiers are faced with. Recently, they were asked to extend the ministry to the police force.

In addition, the Gotz's are also part of a drug dependency recovery program. Youth from the Inland Empire that are struggling with chemical dependency are sent down to Belize. John shared: “The problem with heroin, oxycontin, or other substance addictions is that the youth go through rehab and then they get out and end up back in familiar places. It creates an ongoing cycle [of addiction].” The two year program in Belize is not a rehab program, but instead, an incorporation of the discipleship training. Those in the program are considered God's own, and not simply treated as addicts. “We don't call them addicts. For me, it was like God was saying, 'Let's go beyond it and not label them as addicts. Let's label them Mine.'” The Gotz's request prayer for the students and staff, as well as for wisdom and protection for their programs.

Sending Out Pastors

News from the Gnuschke Family: Serving in East Africa

The Gnuschke's have been serving in Tanzania with Intensive Care Ministries (ICM) for the past 5 years. ICM sends out and supports missionaries who conduct seminars for pastors and church leaders using the Inductive Bible Study (IBS) method. IBS involves verse by verse teaching with the focus on “Observation, Interpretation, and Application.” Trainees are

also instructed in how to outline and chart the Bible.

Each seminar is 3 days long, and the program conducts nearly 100 seminars per year. In 2011, over 4,000 pastors were trained in Tanzania, and a total of 7,000 were trained in East Africa. Up until this time, ICM had been utilizing local church venues in the area. Recently, however, the ICM Board has agreed to open up a training center. The training center will give pastors deeper training in the Word, and is planned to be opened later this year.

Updates From the Field

Guenther and Jennifer Weber; Serving in Germany

Pastor Guenther and Jennifer Weber send their greetings as they serve in Germany. The new year began with many exciting events. Guenther was asked to speak at a meeting during prayer week at the Evangelical Alliance, which he finds very encouraging. “It has been a long time since our church was officially recognized in some way... I think our Bible studies on TV have helped a lot. We are broadcasting on 4 channels now! We praise the Lord for that!”

On February 11th, the church held an evangelism seminar with Manuel Brambila, and on the 25th they hosted a worship leader seminar. The Webers will also be a part of a youth outreach night in April entitled Jesus Night, and in the meantime, they are doing school outreaches before this event. Prayer is needed for open doors and open hearts.

Prayer is also requested for their new teen-ministry leader, Joe; as well as financial support, and that the Lord would raise up more worship leaders.

The Walbergs; Serving in Asia

The Wahlbergs send the latest news from Asia: “Celeste is now focusing on being an elementary principal, supervising 17 teachers and 230 students at the International School. Rich has jumped in with both feet at the Country Director role, guiding 14 expatriate families with a total of 50 international team members and 61 national staff. Our constant prayers are to see our calling glorify the Lord as we support and grow our teams. Our family cannot do this in our own strength, and we depend on God's guidance and power to be effective tools of ministry. Thank you for your prayers and financial sacrifice as you stand in the gap for us and our family through this season of increased responsibility. “

The Wahlbergs request prayer for continued health as snow freezes the area, for financial support, partnership for the school to continue operation, and that the Lord will speak as they lead teams to His glory.

Dan and Debbie Finfrock; Serving in California

Dan Finfrock, Pastor/Leader of Intensive Care Ministries, reports that his trip to Africa went well. “I went to Uganda for the graduation of our 40-day training program that ran through four ten-day cycles. Many of these pastors and leaders only knew how to preach about the “prosperity” doctrine and a few other topics. So when they learned how to study the Scriptures and take their sermons from the Word, there was an amazing response. I wish you could have heard them preaching from Philippians at the graduation. It was powerful. They shared that they will never go back to teaching the way they did in the past!

“Thanks so much for all your prayers for this trip. Please continue to pray for our work in Africa as thousands of pastors and leaders are being trained. Also, please pray for our funding as it is very low right now. Our trust is in Him to provide as He has for over 25 years.” Dan also asks for prayer as he heads down to Mexico for a four-day seminar. “We are expecting a very large group so please pray for the organization of this seminar.”

Reading Corner

This month's featured book is Is That Really You, God? by Loren Cunningham. Cunningham was twenty years old when he had a vision of waves of young people going out into all the nations to spread the Gospel. As the years passed and Cunningham pursued his vision, his string of small successes and devastating failures caused him to stop and frequently ask, “Is that really You, God?”

Cunningham writes of his walk of faith in founding Youth With a Mission, a missionary outreach program that is now operating in over 180 different countries. Sharing his personal

experiences, Cunningham reports how God speaks into the hearts and minds of His followers.

Mexico Outreach

“I want to thank all of you who prayed and supported our last outreach trip in February. As always it was a blessing. We were a small group of eight, but the numbers of others who supported us logistically and financially made the trip so much easier and fruitful. As planned, on Saturday we worked at Agua Viva, and got a lot of

painting and clean up done. Everyone on the team worked very hard. On Sunday, we shared in the morning service at Casa Esperanza. There are some new moms and children there. You can see all the pictures at www.OutreachActivities.info

Our next outreach will be April 20th to the 22nd. Lord willing, we plan on doing a VBS at Hermosa Church. The pastor is very excited and has already started inviting kids from the neighborhood. We a planing on doing this again at Casa Esperanza in June, with a heavy emphasis on salvation.

If you would like to participate you can sign up in the church office or the Missions table on Sunday mornings, or at the Monday night study. The deadline for your deposit is April 16th. Thank you for your continued prayer. “ --Pastor Bob

“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
