For over half a century, the name DBS has meant jus t one thing: the ul t imate produc t ion A s ton Mar t in. A DBS is a dis t il led concentrate of all that has made As ton Mar t in not jus t one of the mos t coveted brands in the automot ive sphere, but in a l l f ie lds of endeavour, r ight around the world.

In 1967 the f ir s t DBS brought new s t andards of grace and luxury to Grand Touring , and with the arr ival of a V8 engine in 1969, another level of per formance too.

Fas t- forward to the 21s t centur y and a new kind of DBS broke cover in 2008, packing a V12 with over 500bhp, and looks that made i t the per fec t companion for the world’s most famous secret agent .

Viewed from ahead the DBS Superleggera i s dominated by a breath- t aking hexagonal gr i l le, combining a sense of unbounded s t reng th with the mos t natural beaut y. This set s the v isual agenda for the ent ire car while s imult aneously feeding the insat iable appet i te for oxygen of the might y 715bhp engine.

Behind it , the ult ra-light carbon f ibre clamshell bonnet would look a s at home displayed in a sculpture gal ler y a s i t does adorning our mos t potent produc t ion model to date. But we never do any thing jus t for show: here the carbon f ibre cut s weight , lowers the cent re of gravi t y and expels hot air through a set of beaut i ful ly sculpted bonnet vent s .

goes far beyond their muscle-bound appearance.The inf luence of these fully func t ional component s

i s fe l t ever ywhere, making the car more s t able, agi le and, of course, yet more beaut i ful.

At the front, the carbon f ibre split ter behaves a s i t s name sugges t s, ensuring precisely the

r ight propor t ion of air f low is direc ted through the g r i l le to cool the eng ine and under the

car to feed the double dif fuser at the rear.

At the side a s tunning new mult i - louvred duc t has been created not s imply as a s ignature s t y ling

cue, but to ex t rac t turbulent air f rom the wheel arch and prevent i t creat ing unwanted ‘l i f t ’ at

the f ront of the car, while pronounced s ide s i l l scont rol the air f low along the body of the car.

Perhaps the mos t not ab le aerodynamic dev ice i s the new, f ixed, carbon f ibre

Aeroblade II™. As turbulent air f lows along the body s ide behind the C-Pi l lar i t i s cont rol led and redirec ted by Aeroblade I I™, work ing in

conjunc t ion with the double dif fuser which accelerates air beneath the car. Whils t most cars

work to reduce lif t , the Aeroblade II™ and double dif fuser work together to create a huge amount of

t rue downforce, pinning the DBS Superleggera to the road using 180kg of aerodynamic pressure.

Typical ly a s a car get s fa s ter, i t requires more cooling , larger brakes and s t ronger suspension, which inevit ably resul t s in increased weight . The DBS Superleggera beg s to dif fer. Natural ly i t has been upgraded in al l areas required to handle i t s phenomenal per formance, but not by merely adding more of the same, ins tead using the f ines t , s t ronges t l ightweight materials . With the option to fur ther enhance the lightweight nature of the car by specif ying a carbon f ibre roof, roof s t rakes, mirror caps, bonnet louvres and side louvres.

The DBS Superleggera includes Carbon Ceramic Brakes a s s t andard, t h i s b rak ing s y s tem in conjunc t ion with the new 21" forged wheels, fur ther enhances the super l ight nature of the car. All features in combinat ion result in a 70kg weight saving over the DB11. We call the approach ‘Superleggera’ – a name meaning superlight which was f ir s t seen on the DB4 in 1959 and referred to the specif ic cons t ruc t ion technique of t he renowned coachbuilder Touring of Milan. An engine capable of accelerat ing to 62mph in less than 3.6 seconds and to a top speed of 211mph needs to be harnessed by a very special t ransmission. With the ZF 8HP95 gearbox, the DBS Superleggera has the most sophist icated driveline yet. The gearbox sit s between the rear wheels to provide optimal weight distribution and has been specif ically programmed not just to learn and adapt to your dr iv ing s t y le, but al so to of fer a choice of charac ters according to which driving mode is selected.
