SpecialiStandrew J. Glover

Specialist Andrew J. Glover is an OEF

veteran. Andrew joined the PA National Guard

at the age of 17, and was a cannon crew

member with the 107th Field Artillery.

In January 2010 he was deployed to the

Khost Province in Eastern Afghanistan and

served until November 2010.

After returning home, he became involved

with Post 128 Rochester VFW where he served

as Senior Vice Commander.

Andrew currently is a student at Slippery

Rock College and is a volunteer at Grove Avenue

Cemetery in New Brighton. He helps with the

upkeep, fixing vandalism, and is looking into

grants for the cemetery.

MaSter SerGeant JuStin Hovancik

Justin Hovancik serves in the Air Force as aMaster Sergeant in the Security Forces. He has proudly served his county since the year 2000. During his past 15 years of service, he has had 3 different deployments : 1st to Bahrain in 2002, 2nd to Iraq in 2009 and 3rd to Afghanistan in 2011. Among his many awards, Master Sergeant Hovancik has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal from his deployment in Afghanistan. Mr. Hovancik was honored to be selected to represent the AFRC in the Sadler Cup which is held in the United Kingdom and the Defender Challenge which is held in the United States. The competitions are a true test of physical fitness, combat weapons expertise and mental toughness. Not only does Justin continue to serve his country in the Armed Forces, he has served his community of Butler Township as a distinguished officer for the past 9 years. He also belongs to the Butler County Drug Task Force. Master Sergeant Hovancik resides with his wife Kara, daughter Hadley and two yellow labs, Lucy and Lainey.

United States Air Force E-4.

Mr. Patillo joined the Air Force in 1985 and

service 5 years and 10 months.

Mr. Patillo’s community service is extensive.

He currently is involved with the Aliquippa Tyler

Youth Center and has been part of the center

since 1983. He transports children to and from

activities and events and is a server for the lunch

program.

Mr. Patillo also volunteers for the Pittsburgh

Youth Leadership Program. This program allows

disadvantage youths to ride bikes around the

county. He is an instructor and driver for boys

from age 12-18.

Mr. Patillo also volunteers for Diabetes

Awareness by calling and handing out literature

to community members. He also helps coordinate

local events for Diabetes Awareness.

tecH 5 Field lineManJoe Hinton

Joe Hinton served April 1944 throughSeptember 1945 in the US Army during World War II in the 104th infantry with the Signal Company in the “Timberwolf” Division until the war ended. Mr. Hinton was ranked Tech 5 as a Field Lineman in the Communications Line. He was awarded the Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 25 years most recently in the Beaver Council and is an honorary member of the 3rd and 4th degree. Previously, he was a Knights of Columbus member in Tennessee and was proclaimed “Knight of the Year” in 1988-1989. He has always enjoyed country music especially blue grass. Joe resides at an assisted living facility where he sings and plays the organ entertaining visitors and residents each week. Mr. Hinton was married to his wife Madelyn for 69 years until she passed in September 2010. He has 3 children, Charles from Negley, OH, Lori Koch from Columbia, TN and James from Beaver Falls. Mr. Hinton has 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
