This is Joe’s first musical production outside of high school and he has given the performance his all. He hopes to continue performing in

shows like this, as he continues his musical career. He is extremely grateful for his supportive parents helping him through this journey, and also for his amazing fellow cast and stage crew members. In the musical theater world, he has experience as musical director of Monty Python’s Spamalot, in which he also played the part of King Arthur, Oklahoma, and Anything Goes, in which he played the part of Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. He then moved back to his home state of Georgia to pursue a career in teaching

and to work as a freelance director/choreographer. He spent 6 years as the director of theatre at Woodward Academy (K-12) and 8 years at Kennesaw State University. He moved to Birmingham to serve as Artist in Residence at Red Mountain Theatre Company for the 2017-18 season. After completing his term Henry decided to stay in Birmingham. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Montevallo, co-facilitates a respite program, for people living with dementia, at the Independent Presbyterian Church, and works as a freelance director. Henry has been a certified yoga and meditation instructor for 13 years and he is constantly striving to weave together the healing arts and the performing arts in meaningful and transformational ways. He dedicates this performance to his dear friend and mentor, Linda P. Wise. “Maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.”

Charles Wood (Don Quixote/Cervantes). From his first review by Philip Kennicott in the New York Daily News, Charles Wood was recog-nized for performing roles “with power and sincerity”. Michael Huebner wrote for The Birmingham News that “Wood performs in fine voice” and “with vocal maturity and solid musical instincts.” His operatic experience includes leading roles with the Des Moines Metro Opera, the Brooklyn

Performing Arts Center, Amarillo Opera, Abilene Opera, and the Longview Opera, among others. He has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Dallas Symphony where he appeared as soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Orff’s Carmina Burana. Mr. Wood is thrilled to appear with the renowned Virginia Samford Theater and to join such a talented cast of characters. In Loving MemoryJack Mann1939–2018

Jack Mann began his theatre career at the Virginia Samford Theatre in 1963 in the Town and Gown production of The Music Man where he met his friend

Cathy Rye Gilmore and Suzanne Moncrief, his wife of more than 54 years. Jack was the first actor outside of New York to play the role of Matt in the classic musical The Fantasticks and later distinguished himself as one of

Birmingham’s finest actors as John Adams in two stellar productions of 1776. His directorial skills and keen eye for casting was evident in numerous VST shows including Annie Get Your Gun, Damn Yankees, The Music Man,

CHICAGO, Hello, Dolly and most recently, SCROOGE the Musical. He was one of the founders of The Little Theatre Players and was one of the

original cast members of the Wits Other End cabaret theatre troupe. For the past several years, Jack had devoted his time to developing and

nurturing the VST’s STARS arts education program which continues to be a beacon for young theatre talent in Birmingham.

Man of La Mancha was one of Jack’s most favorite shows.

Deep in December, our hearts should remember and follow. (from “Try to Remember” from The Fantasticks)
