INDOOR UNIT WITH FIN & TUBE TYPE EVAPORATOR COIL WITH AUTOCLEAN FUNCTION

MULTI FOLD, MULTI POINTINJECTION EVAP COIL

All Evaporator coils are made-up of Aluminium Fin & Copper (Inner Grooved)Tubes. The fins used in Evaporator coils are coated with Hydrophilic material. Thismaterial does not hold water on the fin surface & protects the fin / coil from themoisture or sweating formed on the coil. Thus it improves the performance & Lifeof the coil. These coils have multiple folds to get accommodated in the IndoorUnit. For better cooling, the coil is divided into small circuits. Each circuit has Inlet& Outlet for Refrigerant flow called multi point injection system.

Auto Clean Function:

In addition to the Pre coated fin Evaporator coil, the Auto Clean function improvesthe performance of the unit. When we run the unit, sweating is formed on theevaporator coil. The gap between the fins is very less (@1.3 mm), the sweatformed on the fin surface does not drain-out completely after switching off theunit. This wet surface catches the dust particles & after period of time clogs thecoil. This clogged coil reduces the performance of the system causing low cooling& high power. This also affects the life of the coil. So to avoid this, Auto Cleanfunction is introduced through the controller. By this function, when we switch offthe unit with the remote, condensing unit (Outdoor) gets off immediately, but the

indoor unit remains working for 10 min cycle. This dries the Evaporator coilcompletely, thus reduces clogging of Evaporator coil. Thus performance & Powerconsumption of the unit is not getting affected for a long period of time.

A) DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONDENSER COILS USED IN CONDENSINGUNITS:

PARALLEL FLOW CONDENSING COIL (MICRO CHANNEL)

Complete coil is made of Aluminium Alloy. The coil tubes are called micro channelswith through small holes for refrigerant flow through the coil. The Inlet & Outlettubes are of Copper for connecting with the Discharge tubing to the compressor& other connecting tubes. These micro channels are thin in size. The volume ofthese PFC coils is less as compared with conventional Fin and Tube coils. Repairingthe coils is a bit critical as special type of brazing rods is required with better skillfor brazing is required. Limitation of these coils is that these coils can be used inCooling Only type units.

CONVENTIONAL FIN & TUBE TYPE CONDENSING COIL

Conventional Fin & Tube type condensing coils are been used from many years.These coils are made up of Fins and Inner Grooved Tubing.

The material of Fins is Aluminium having very less thickness, and the coil tubescalled hair pins are of thin Inner Grooved Copper. The fins are generally coatedwith Hydrophilic material which protects fin in high humidity. All the coil tubes (HairPins), other connecting Return Bends / Inlet �Outlet tubes are made up of Copper,are brazed together to complete the Condenser coil. These coils are bettercorrosion resistant than PFC coils. So these coils are used in High Humid areas &chemical zones. These coils are easily repairable as brazing the coils is much easythan that of PFC (aluminium) coils. These coils can be used in Outdoor units withCooling only as well as Cooling-Heating type units.

Unit have strong power consumption monitoring mechanism in the plant For highpower consuming equipments, power consumption is monitored in every shift &corrective action is taken immediately. Following is the department wise electricalpower consumption analysis.

After analyzing power consumption of every department we undertake variousenergy saving projects. These projects are implemented & post implementationit�s benefits are monitored.

Automatic filter cleaning technology � JCH-IN has introduce its latest I Cleantechnology which is specially designed for Indian tropical condition (Dustenvironment). With the help of software programming and cleaning mechanism,Filters are automatically cleaned after particular interval of air conditioner usage.Regular cleaning of filter results in Hygienic air conditioning along with power saving.

De-rating of cooling capacity, if filter is not cleaned up to 4 months.

With I-Clean technology the machine will clean the filter automatically daily keepingthe filters clean so that the Airflow is not restricted and keeping the Capacitysame as factory fitted machine which will save power consumption.

Below is the energy saved by I-clean machine against if Customer is cleaning filterevery 30 days and using the machine for 1600 Hrs/Yr.

Power saving due to I clean machine / Annum 325 kW/Yr.Volume of I clean technology machines sold in FY15 11,269 Nos.Total power saving due to I clean 36,62,425 kW/Yr.

By using the above technology in JCH-IN air conditioners saving ofapproximately 3662 Mega Watts achieved

Energy Conservation Measures:

Crompton has taken lot of efforts for energy conservation by purchasing highefficiency machinery, furnaces & motors to make them more energy efficient. Theunit has replaced old electrical furnaces with new efficient Silicon carbide furnaceswith reduced heat losses. These consume less energy as well as restrict heat lossthereby leading to energy savings in both ways.

The unit has replaced CFLs, tube lamps & mercury vapour lamps with energyefficient LED lighting system which has helped us to save energy in office, streetlighting & shop floor. As an energy saving measure, lighting of Canteen has beenshifted on Solar Panel system upto 2.5KVA.

1. Energy Saving projects implemented with respect to the the product,and what made this product so efficient.

The ceiling fan is a product whose efficiency relies on a number of factors e.g.aerodynamics of the blade, winding, quality of material being used, and tolerancesin the assembly, etc. Each and every factor is equally important as the slightestmistake in any of these results in huge efficiency losses. Automated CNC controlledwinding, CNC machining of the motor covers, close tolerating in stator and rotorgrinding, use of best raw materials, etc. have resulted in a highly efficient product.

As there are a large number of factors influencing the efficiency of the motor itrequires an extensive testing facility and quality control system. HAVELLS, committedto delivering the best quality product to its customer, has installed a fully automatedAir Delivery chamber for testing and quality control.

As a result, even the recently developed Horizontal models, which (10 ltrs., 15ltrs., 25 ltrs.) was seemingly impossible to conform to 5 star energy rating - byvirtue of the orientation - qualified for 5 star energy rating as per latest norms.

� What made this product so efficient-

Several brain-storming sessions were conducted in Bajaj Electricals Ltd. as howto minimise the standing loss for water heaters. Also, with a strong theoreticalback-up and state-of-the-art test equipment, new samples were made and testedas per the new standing loss norms.

On repeated testing and feedback, with certain changes in the thermal insulationgrade, viscosity and process �fine-tuning�, a improvements were seen in the standingloss values. Moreover, based on the various analysis and experiments carried outin the last few years, Bajaj has set certain design parameters which assists indeveloping the best thermal insulation for any capacity and for a range of differentproduct designs.

To increase thermal insulation capability in A. O. Smith water heater, company hasphased out from pre-moulded PUF insulation to in-site injected PUF Insulation. Energy Saving Project implemented:

Project 1 :In the TFL production line, there is one exhaust machine where electrical heaterswere installed to heat the lamp for better exhausting process of the TFL lamp.Through this project converted the electrically operated oven into Natural Gasfired, Radiant heat burner oven. The details of before and after the project are asbelow:

What made Crompton�s TFLs so efficient ?

Project 2 :Since the BEE star labeling program was announced for TFLs in 2007, variousprojects to improve the product energy efficiency were implemented. The majorthrust in initial 2 years was to improve the luminous flux of the lamp and also toreduce the depreciation in luminous flux over its life. Last year main focus throughproject was on reduction in wattage of the lamps and still achieve the sameluminous flux for all the BEE labeled TFLs. Thus now unit have improved on luminousflux , depreciation in flux over life of the lamp and wattage reduction , givingoverall improvement in Lumen Per watt (LPW) , which is the focus of BEE starlabeling scheme for TFLs. The major actions taken are as below:

It was proved from the fitted line plot (fig.1) with R-sq of 70% that Argon Fillingpressure inside the lamp significantly affects the lamps wattage. Therefore, toincrease the LPW it is good to decrease the wattage and still get the higher lumens.

Filling pressure specifications was changed from 2.0 + 0.1Tor to 1.8 + 0.1 Tor.Fig. 2 shows wattage reduction.

Also Design of Experiments were conducted to reduce the depreciation in lamp, itwas found out the sintering furnace temp was critical as per the DOE effectspareto (Fig. 3) , Fig. 4 shows the contour plot of temperature and depreciationrelationship.
