Yesterday, whilst students enjoyed their last day at home, staff were at school engaging in professional learning activities focusing on the teaching of digital and ICT technologies across all areas of the curriculum. Teachers spent time learning how to use two new Departmental STEMSHARE kits, 3D Printing and PC Robotics, which our school has borrowed for Term 3. I am proud that at Beecroft Public School, teachers prioritise professional growth, reflection and the development of new skills in the rapidly changing space of digital and ICT technologies. It is an exciting time and we look forward to sharing some of the engaging learning that students will be involved in this term. ‘Run Beecroft Run’ - Athletics Carnival On the last Wednesday of Term 2 Beecroft Public School held our annual K-6 Athletics Carnival at Greenway Park, Cherrybrook. It was a sensational day of fun, sportsmanship and athletic prowess. Thank you again to the amazing team of teachers, led by Mrs Tina Faber, Mrs Jo Justic and Mrs Lisa Reid, who meticulously prepared for and executed every tiny detail needed to ensure the success of this event. Congratulations to Donna Dubsky, Nina Frykberg, Belinda Varndell and the amazing team of parents who provided close to 700 lunches on the day. It was an impressive organisational achievement! The pictures that follow tell the story.

Yesterday on our Staff Development Day, teachers attended professional learning in alignment with the School Plan, Strategic Direction 1, Excellence in Teaching. The day focused on how technology can be used as a tool to enhance student learning, as we strive for excellence and ensure that every student is authentically engaged and challenged in an innovative and future focused environment. Teachers participated in a hands-on session that explored how coding and robotics can be used in their teaching and learning programs. Coding and robotics allow students to investigate digital technologies, create digital solutions, explore automation of repetitive tasks and become critical consumers of information as well as creative producers which is part of the Science and Technology syllabus.

To build upon our innovative learning environments at Beecroft Public School, teachers participated in a variety of workshops that focused on Google Suites, a tool that can be utilised by teachers to communicate with students and create an environment of collaboration and productivity. Another workshop focused on Inquiry Learning and how to embed short inquiry activities into a unit of work. Teachers also had the option to explore new department teaching and learning resources that embed ICT directly into the classroom. Thank you to the Learner Focused Team, Mrs Irene Robbins, Mrs Kate Bowyer, Ms Tina Faber, Mrs Sarah Hahn, Mrs Lindsay Croom, Mrs Jocelyn Caddy, Mrs Brianna Gow, Mrs Eve Dirago and Ms Polly Hogarth for organising such an outstanding day. THANK YOU! The sun was shining and the team spirit was in the air. The Greatest Sausage Sizzle was a big success! So a very big THANK YOU to all who had a meal deal and we hope it added to a great day of sport, team spirit and fun! It surely would have not been possible without our willing volunteers throughout the day and days leading up to the event. A brilliant effort by our events coordinators, Donna D and Nina F and a special mention to our tireless BBQers, Matthew D & Paul K who manned the hot plates without a break.

BOOSH

Hello Booshies!!! Vacation Care Vacation Care was a fun and exciting time for all of the children. Highlights for the July holidays were the children really consolidating their own play with lots of outdoor activities and creative crafts (with our new equipment!). Cooking crafts were a smash hit with the children as staff brought back some old classics (honey joys and chocolate crackles) that were received well by all! This vacation care BOOSH went on excursions to the Stardust Circus and Reverse Garbage. Reverse Garbage saw BOOSH travel out to Marrickville where we learnt about REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. We learnt that after proper recycling our rubbish bins should only be a 1/4 full by weekly collection. The children also made amazing looking spacecrafts and let their imaginations go wild making space inspired creations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing! There was a wide variety of incursions to come along to. However the children's favourite was the magician, which even WOW'd the staff with his magically appearing animals! Welcome Back to Term 3 Welcome back to Term 3 to all our Booshies! There are some exciting new themes for the Term 3 program. We will be looking into Good vs. Evil for the first five weeks and then building our knowledge on Nature for the second five weeks of Term 3. We look forward to the children bringing their investigative skills and powers of deduction to explore our Overarching Theme!
