Lack of agreed Calculation Method

We need alignment between brewers

& related beverage industry

And of course also: Confusion on “labels” , LCA studies, environmental claims, greenwashing?

We joined together: Beer pilot Technical Secretariat (TS)

Why we are in? Beer brewers and BIER,..• Share same sustainability agenda; there is a sense of

urgency to improve performance

• “Transparency is a necessity to be

able to improve Supply Chains”

• We can best improve together

with supply chain partners

• The PEF defines 1 language and

one calculation methodology

• PEF is linked to circular economy

• Consumer labels “not unlikely”

And we need an answer to COP 21; Scope 1 & 2 & 3:“50% less in 10 years?”

We need an “harmonized-fact based-stakeholder accepted methodology” as a solid baseline as basis for well defined “Science Based Targets”.

Where are we now?

� Secondary data sets

� Primary data is used

• In process of harmonization with:

• Beverage Industry Environmental

Roundtable

• Useful tool to quantify our carbon
