There are four types of questions.
1. Request Information2. Probe Deeper3. Check Understanding4. Require you to take a stand.
1. Current Status - What grade are you in now?
- What are your duties in your current job?
2. Background – work/school experience
- What experiences have you had?
- What are you good at?
3. Interests› What do you do in your spare time?
› What are your hobbies?
4. Goals If you are hired, how long do you
expect to work here? In five years, where do you see
yourself?
These will challenge statements you have made.› Ex. You said you quit the
McDonalds job after one week, why?
Questions that ensure they understood something you said.› Ex. Did you say your grades in
English reflect your communication skills?
See how you react under pressure.› Why do you want to work for this
company?› Why do you want to attend this
school?
1. Answer the question the interviewer actually asked
2. Answer questions as fully and as honestly as you can
Don’t be afraid to take a moment to think. Avoid giving Yes or No answers.
3. Frame your answers to present yourself in the best possible light. › Emphasize the reasons you are the best candidate.
