Most people live with constant social stressors in their lives; one of them is known as peer pressure. It is a problem that can affect many teenagers when they don't want to do something but their friends tell them to and they do it. It is often taken as a negative form; however, not all peer pressure is bad. Party time!

Friday 18th November 2011, 7:30 pm. Does this date mean anything to you?

Since 2004 the party has been organized by Mr. and Mrs. Bare helped by pupils of Bel-Air. It usually takes place in the foyer and the refectory. “It's great for former pupils to see friends, the school, receive

always have such good marks, I always feel the need to have good marks too because if I don't, I’m afraid they will stop talking to me". Unfortunately, some

students are exposed to bad peer pressure; Yohan, a TSI student said “my friends pressured me into smoking, I didn't appreciate it but because of them, I now smoke every day". Peer pressure can be due to a lack of confidence, low self esteem, being made fun of or called a loser, the need to fit in or even just curiosity. If you are being exposed to the bad kind of peer pressure, here is some advice: It is important to stay focused and remember who you are. Find a clique that suits you

their diploma and speak with teachers about university. Even teachers who do not teach in Bel Air anymore often come to the party.” said Mrs. Bare. "For students who can't often go out, it's great to participate because this party is supervised by the school" she added. “I think this party is a good initiative because former pupils can come and after obtaining my graduation, I'll go to the After Bac. But this year, I'm helping because it's difficult to organize this event.” said Victor,1Svt. This year, the subject is “Black and White” and the advertising poster was made by 1ère pupils, so remember: If you are in 1ère or Terminale, you are invited. So on November 18th, come and spend the evening at school but not to study!

As you know, Facebook is a world famous social network. Currently, most teenagers have FB and it is funny to see how they think that it is commonplace for them. For example when Estelle, 1ES was asked if she had FB she answered "Yes,

Blessing or curse ? Facebook, a social network.

Who has never read a book? No one of course! And what is the best book in the world for you? All the websites making top ten lists have a different opinion, but some books are always named like Rien ne s’oppose à la nuit by Delphine de Vignan or Tuer le père by Amelie Nothomb. What about Bel Air teenagers' favorite books? Johanna, 1ere S-SVT said “My favorite genres are romance, adventure, history as well as detective stories but I dislike science fiction and fantasy novels because I dislike violence and the supernatural.” The science fiction genre is a story in the

of course!!”. Even if FB is a popular website, sometimes people can be hooked and not be aware of it contrary to Estelle who said "Yes, I'm a little (addicted)". In general, addicts can't help going to their FB page every day. Nevertheless, others not only use FB to chat. I use it "to keep in touch with friends" said Delphine, a 1Ssvt student. FB is not the only social network: "I've got Skype" said Delphine, and Estelle. Skype is a website which allows users to phone via internet so it is another way to chat and to maintain contact with family or friends. Despite the fact that FB is a world famous social network, privacy breaches are

common! Personal data are threatened, and the security has been compromised several times.Furthermore, FB enables non-users to search for members, opening up their profiles to public view if they are not secured. Some users are freaked out because they want to hide their information from the public. To conclude, nowadays, most students subscribe to a famous website without knowing the dangers. Everybody can be annoyed or spied even if they believe they’re safe. But don't forget, FB is also a good way to chat and to keep in touch with friends! Up to you...

uture sometimes with robots or spaceship; for example “Star Wars” is a science fiction movie and book. As for detective stories, they deal with crimes and investigations by a detective, either amateur or professional. “My favorite book is the Bible because there are lots of genres” said Johanna “I recommend other pupils to read Black boy

by Richard Wright and L'homme à l'envers by Fred Vargas.” Black Boy is a classic of American autobiography, a narrative of Richard Wright's journey, showing what it meant to be a black man, in Southern America.Lune in Terminal L said “I like novels with mystery and my favorite book is Mémoires d'une Pirate by Celia Rees” which tells the story of two girls who run away and join a band of pirates. Together they go in search of adventure, love, and a new life that breaks all restrictions of gender, race, and position. As a conclusion, there are lots of genres so someone may love a book whereas someone else may not but reading has so many benefits, it's worth finding out the one you like so turn the pages to explore a new world!

Music band’s successBy Romane Ruettard

The band ''Simple Plan’’ began in 1993 with the name Reset, composed of Pierre Bouvier, Charles-André "Chuck" Comeau, Philippe Jolicoeur, and Adrian White. Before creating Simple Plan, they belonged to different groups. The name “Simple Plan” comes from the 1998 drama flick entitled "A Simple Plan". They named their albums: No pads, No helmets…Just Balls (2002), Still Not Getting Any (2004), Simple Plan (2008), and Get Your Heart On! (2011). MTV, The BBC and The New York Times defined their music as pop punk.

Moreover, Simple Plan can be affiliated with “What's New, Scooby-Doo?”, because they performed the ending song of the film in 2002. You can also hear the song "I'd Do Anything" in the episode "It's Mean, It's Green, It's the Mystery Machine".

But music isn't all they can do! They have side projects like their foundation (http://www.simpleplanfoundation.org) which focuses on teen problems including suicide, poverty and drug addictions. In 2008, the foundation gave $100,000 to organizations that helped children or families experiencing difficulties due to handicaps or illnesses. In 2011, after the earthquake in Japan, the Foundation donated $10,000 to the Japan Red Cross Relief Efforts. And also their line of tee-shirts was created by Bouvier, Comeau and Langlois, with the logo ''Role Model'' printed on it. If you don't know them yet, you can listen to their songs on the net.

Incredible peopleBy Minene Belharchaoui and Elisa Damet

According to a US study, high school students who sleep less than 7 hours a night, have more chance to become depressed and think more about suicide. In addition sleeping less than 7 hours is bad for your weight. In fact, people who sleep 7 to 9 hours a night tend to be slim and run fewer risks of being depressed. Both 1°SVT students who were interviewed said “during the week, I sleep 8 hours whereas at week-ends I sleep between 9 to 10 hours”.

But maybe you have trouble falling asleep. It’s the reason why sleeping

The best for you would be to go to bed at 9 pm if you get up at 6 am; try and you will quickly see the benefits of a good sleep.

must be prepared before going to bed. Your body must know ahead, that it’s time for you to sleep. Here are some tips: - Calm down for about one hour before going to sleep - avoid high-fat meals - avoid exciting drinks like coffee, tea, alcohol... - dim the lightOf course, you may find doing this annoying but one thing you can at least do is calming down. But how do you know that you’re tired? You must listen to the body’s messages, for example: - itchy eyes - untimely yawning - decreased attention - muscle relaxation...

Heroes are role models for many of us but when the word hero is heard, one often thinks of fiction heroes like Spiderman, Iron Man or even Captain America. Real heroes are historical heroes like Albert Camus, Nelson Mandela or Jean Moulin or everyday life heroes such as firefighters, police officers and other people who save lives on a daily basis and do it with courage and kindness not expecting anything in return. For some people, a hero logically represents a super hero but for others it means more.  The vision of the hero of two totally different people is very, very far from being the same. For example, Haroune a 50 year old man who lives in London said "When I was young, I

had many heroes. We were brought up within the spirit of the liberation war from the French and my heroes were those who did not fear death when facing the enemy in a battle; knowing well that they were risking their lives." Contrary to him, Pauline a 30 year old woman answered that her hero when she was young was "Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street".  Two students of NDBA, Justine in 1L and Deborah in 1S-SVT, agreed on the fact that fiction heroes aren’t inspired by real heroes. If they could have a superpower, they would like to fly.

It is the superpower that a lot of people would like to have, but unfortunately, it’s impossible! To the question "If you could be a superhero, who would you be?" Justine said she would like to be Superman and Deborah Catwoman. Justine doesn’t feel like a hero herself, but one time she saved a stray cat in the street and brought it to the vet!To conclude, people have a different opinion of what a hero is, but everybody can be one, if they decide to!

Do you remember what you were doing on December 8th 2010? If you are in 1ère or Terminale, you have certainly seen the Ichtus Theatre play "Réjouis-toi Marie". Last year, 22 pupils of Bel-Air and 8 pupils of Vouzier high-school in the Ardennes put on the play in 5 days with Henry HAAS and his friend Lucette .“ I think this theater and human experience offers a lot to students who participate.”said Mrs. Falque

Nowadays, more and more teenagers are interested in their self-image. They are often influenced by models like Kate Moss or Heidi Klum, stars and advertisements for fragrances or cosmetics (Dior, Chanel...). These people show us a dream life with a perfect body which is a fictitious example: they need to be slim, to look young, to have beautiful hair, eyes, a nice smile and a perfect skin. It is difficult to escape from this image because it is all around us in our society. Indeed, Justine, 1ère L, said "I care about my physical appearance,

The herd instinct has always existed. This can be seen most of the time in middle or high school. Teens choose a group of people they’re identical to, or simply a group of people they want to be. For example, there are many sorts of groups. The most recognizable are the jocks, the goths, the punks, the rastas… The way you dress automatically makes you belong to a group. Fashion for some people is a way to be themselves, to show who they are. It’s a way to be part of a group, and therefore feel recognized.

forward to going there and seeing the people I met last year again.” said Eloïse, a TL student, who participated in the play. The successful play attracted about 400 people in the evening .And this year, pupils of Bel-Air are about 15 to go to the Ardennes in order to put on a new play in January. In 2012, there may not be a new play with Ichtus Theatre but theatre in Bel-Air will continue with new actors. Are you ready to get involved in a new theatre experience?

because I like myself better, when I put on make up and I do my hair like celebrities. It gives me self-confidence." Moreover, Annabelle, 1ère SVT, has the same point of view "Today, you must be slim to feel comfortable". Céline, 1ère SVT, thinks it is "a little but not very important ". On the contrary, Blandine, 2D2, asserted "I pay attention but I like myself as I am. If I didn't eat, I would not be happy".Most of the time, girls take care of their body. Justine said "I make up, I am interested in watching videos on internet in which some girls show us how to make up. I pay attention to what I eat; I practice many sports before and after going to school". Blandine also said "Sometimes, I eat less; I manage to do a bit of sport but I always relax".

All said that they were influenced by the media, except one, who said "I do not want to be identified to them; I do not feel like being skinny”.Being perfect is a goal that we cannot reach but it makes cosmetics industries richer. You can change your physical appearance but you must be reasonable and the most important is to keep fit.

On the contrary, other people don’t need fashion. They’re themselves without staying in a clique and more and more when they’re in high school. But people often think that belonging to a clique is a way to be more self-confident, fit in and to let people know who you are or who you want to be.

Even though there are a lot of people who need to “dress the part” to fit in, some reject the system and decide not to care. Attitude can also define what clique you should stay with. For example, in some schools in England pupils must wear a uniform, therefore there is no fashion discrimination and groups are made by attitude and behavior.

"It’s very strong and friendships were made very quickly between the actors. There were tears on the platform of the station while they had known one another only for 5 days” she added. “I decided to do that to live another artistic experience with my friends but it's unique because we made new friends and now I'm looking
