Steve HOUBEN is an open, cultivated and curious mind, with considerable talent and conviction.

Introduced to Jazz by Jacques PELZER, he attended courses at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and he created, with Henri POUSSEUR, the Jazz Seminar at the Liège Conservatory.

He also led COCODRILO, a fusion group with European musicians.

He invited to Europe several US musicians and formed the groups Solstice fi rst, then Mauve Traffi c.

He played with some legendary musicians like Chet BAKER, Mike STERN, George COLEMAN, Gerry MULLIGAN, ….

Steve HOUBEN went on tour around the world, leading diff erent groups, played with numerous bands such as the Tunisian ANFASS, the Cuban Breeze, the Brazilian Panta Rhei with Marito CORREA.

Composer, arranger and free-lance musician, he recorded about 15 albums.

Best Belgian alto sax player and best Belgian and European fl ute player of the year ‘98, elected by the Belgian radios RTBF and VRT.

Best European fl ute player and best Belgian alto player by the Belgian critics.
