Considering their complementary skills, it is felt that a collaboration between” Technopark Technology Business Incubator”(T-TBI) and “INCUBATIECENTUM Arsenaal Brussel”(ICAB) in the ICT business incubation space can help in building a long term partnership and enable the companies from respective regions to leverage each other’s competencies.

“Technopark-Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI)” - is a joint initiative of Technopark, Trivandrum and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to help the technology business start-ups with all the necessary resources and supports they need to evolve and grow as a ripened business. T-TBI offers infrastructure facilities, technology/ prototype development support, research assistance, helps in getting funding, business consulting assistance and do whatever is necessary to make the start-up a success. This has enabled T-TBI to win the Award for the Worlds 2nd Best Science Based Incubator instituted by CSES, UK and Technopolicy Network, Netherlands. Technopark TBI won the AABI (Asian Association of Business Incubation) Award for the Best incubator of 2012. Earlier T-TBI was recognized by the Department of Science and Technology in 2007 as the best Technology Business Incubator in the country.

“Incubatiecentrum Arsenaal Brussel (ICAB)” is a Brussels based Business & Technology Incubator for the ICT and Engineering sectors. It is a joint initiative of the “Brussels Capital Region” and the “Vrije Universiteit Brussel” (Flemish speaking Free University of Brussels). The mission of ICAB is to transform innovative technological ventures into profitable and sustainable businesses and integrate them into a networked ecosystem dedicated to open entrepreneurship.

ICAB offers both private offices and shared work environments. The offices are fully equipped, in a top high tech infrastructure. The entrepreneurs are surrounded by start-ups, potential customers, future partners, opinion makers and financiers. Logistics, operational and strategic services are tailored to their needs. ICAB looks for the right partner via its expertise and knowledge networks. To this end ICAB maintains close relations with industrial, academic and financial partners and government authorities. ICAB has an optimal location in the Capital of Europe and in the proximity of knowledge centers and technological clusters.

In this context, the objectives of the MOU between ICAB and T-TBI are :

• Providing incubation support to ICT Companies from each other’s region by offering infrastructure and services (guidance in setting up, tax and accounting support, market research, IP support, shared resources in sales and marketing, fiscal incentives etc.,)

• Entering into an Understanding for the promotion and development of Small and Medium Companies situated in the State of Kerala and in the Brussels Capital Region. Wherein ICAB



will help T-TBI to interconnect its start-ups with its business network and mentors pool and vice versa.

• Shearing their experiences in valorizing the results of research centers and the coaching of ICT-start-ups.

The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) - Antwerp Port Authority

Port of Antwerp expands collaboration in India

Chennai, 28 November – A Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed today between the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and Antwerp Port Authority in the presence of HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium and representatives of the federal and regional governments. The MoC, signed by Antwerp Port Authority chairman Marc Van Peel and MCCI chairman Schivaraman, seeks to further develop the already good relations between the two organisations.

With this new partnership the Port of Antwerp further confirms its leading position in trade with India. The Port Authority and MCCI recognise their mutual economic interests, and have undertaken to further develop existing and new commercial relations for the benefit of both regions. As the region’s oldest chamber of commerce, the MCCI is a partner with high added value. Thanks in part to collaboration agreements such as the present MoC, the port of Antwerp expects to further boost the volume of Indian freight passing through Antwerp.

Chennai is one of the largest cities in India and has enjoyed an economic boom in recent years thanks to among other things its IT and service industries. The city is also known as the “Detroit of India” because of its car industry. And with a well developed rail network and an expanding port, Chennai is the main gateway to southern India. In 2012 trade with India generated 4.3 million tonnes of cargo for the port of Antwerp.

The Antwerp port community is very well aware of India’s growth potential, and so is targeting investments on this region in close collaboration with the business community and local authorities. As part of this effort the Port Authority has maintained a permanent representative in Mumbai since 2006 and decided in 2012 to form a strategic alliance with Essar Ports.

IL&FS Water Limited - VITO

IL&FS Water Limited and VITO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at establishing an alliance for offering wastewater treatment and recycling projects to clients. The agreement specifically targets water recycling using membrane technologies and the recovery of specific molecules and salts. The co-operation will enable Flemish and Indian companies to implement innovative technologies aimed at “zero discharge”, which is often required by Indian permitting authorities.

Toolbox India and Edelgive Foundation sign MOU for capacity building of Non-Profits Toolbox India (Toolbox), an organization offering pro-bono consulting services to non-profits (NPOs) in change process management and Edelgive Foundation (Edelgive), the strategic philanthropic initiative of the Edelweiss Grouphave signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today. The MOU will enable the leveraging of Toolbox’s 40-member strong volunteer base and Edelgive’s extensive network and expertiseto offer a broader range of consulting services to NPOs. Toolbox and Edelgive have also agreed to work together on initiatives to engage corporate entities through structured employee volunteering engagements so that Corporate Social Responsibility programs are made more effective. Through this partnership, Toolbox and Edelgive commit to engage with nonprofits funded by Edelgive and supported by Toolbox and extend their support to newer NPOs to expand the portfolio. Toolbox currently provides support to over 15 NPOs in Mumbai in diverse areas including strategic and operations management, business planning, human resources, information technology, communications, marketing, legal support and impact measurement. Edelgive provides grantsand capacity building support to NPOs and has partnered with local and international organizations to provide them with a zero cost platform to invest in credible NPOs in India.
