Dear Belleview Families,
We are fortunate at Belleview Elementary to have such an exemplary and dedi-
cated parent community. The following quote from Winston Churchill speaks to this
point. “We make a living by what we do, but we make life by what we give.” On behalf
of our staff, students, and school, we thank you for all you do to serve our students and
Belleview. Your generosity, volunteerism, and heart contribute to the success of our
school.
We are pleased to share the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation sponsors the
Wendy DeBell Exceptional Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognizes volun-
teers of the Cherry Creek School District for their dedication to our students, faculty and
community. Your volunteerism is a tremendous gift. With the incredible number of out-
standing volunteers at Belleview Elementary School, it will be a challenging task to rec-
ognize just one. Please help us by nominating an exceptional Belleview volunteer. You
may submit the attached form to the front office by February 18, 2011.
In the upcoming months, we will administer the Colorado Student Assessment
Program (CSAP) tests. The CSAP is the statewide assessment for students, beginning in
grade 3 and extending to grade 10. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be completing tests
in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Our 5th graders will have an additional assess-
ment in Science.
The CSAP is a standards-based assessment designed to measure student progress
on Colorado Model Content Standards. Parents are provided with CSAP results, and
schools utilize the information to track student progress and to establish school improve-
ment goals.
Please review the schedule in this newsletter carefully and make every effort to
avoid scheduling appointments or trips on the dates of the assessments. It’s very im-
portant that your child be on time to school every day, but especially on the testing dates
listed. Students who arrive after the tests have begun will wait in the office until the tests
are finished and will need to take a make up test. Each year we are proud of the effort
given by our students on the CSAP tests, and we will encourage them to do their best
once again this year.

In an effort to maintain a safe school environment, it is essential to monitor your speed and driving through the parking lot and hug
and go lanes. It is important to recognize and yield to students and adults walking in the parking lot, as well as drop off only in a
parking lot (with supervision) or at the hug and go lane located at our front lane sidewalk area.
All of these actions will keep people safe and maintain a smooth parking lot flow.

As part of our Wellness Initiative at Belleview, we are partnering with VSP Vision Care to help serve the more than
one billion people globally who cannot afford or do not have access to eyewear.
VSP’s Eyes of Hope Program boosts awareness about the importance of eye health while providing an opportunity for
the community to support a charitable cause. Once donated glasses are received by VSP, they’re refurbished, cleaned,
and labeled to benefit those in need through world missions.
The Eyes of Hope® eyewear donation program has collected and distributed over 50,000 glasses to those in need around the globe
since the program’s inception in December 2008.
Please donate any pair of glasses your family no longer uses. Put them in the green box in the front lobby area.
Contact Molly McKanna at 720-554-3104 with any questions. Thank you!
