St. Bernadette, Pray For Us

Fr Harry Buseness

Public Square Rosary Crusade On Saturday, October 12, St. Bernadette Parish will participate in the 2019 public square Rosary crusade. In Solidarity with other Catholic churches throughout the United States, St. Bernadette parishioners will pray the rosary at 12:00 noon. Further, as a way of witnessing to prayer in a public way, we will pray the rosary in the lower parking lot along 42nd Street. This national effort is coordinated by Tradition, Family and Property and its America Needs Fatima campaign. The object of this effort is to call people back to faithfulness to God. The world is in an historic crossroad. God is more offended than ever as people ignore our Lady’s maternal request to “stop offending God.” You must listen to our Lady’s request and stop sinning, if we hope to enjoy God’s blessings and to avert His wrath. He will hear us, if we pray through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. That is why we are doing the 2019 Public Square Rosary Crusade. Plan to join your fellow parishioners to pray the rosary next Saturday, October 12 at 12:00 noon in our lower parking lot. Clergy Conference On Monday and Tuesday of this week, I will be gathering with other priests of the archdiocese for our annual fall clergy conference. We will meet at the St. Benedict Center near Schuyler, NE. Letter to a Suffering Church Copies of this book may be found at the back of church. Feel free to take one. In the book, Bishop Robert Barron addresses the topic of the great suffering experienced by members of the church as a result of the clergy abuse scandal. When you finish this short book, I encourage you to return it for others to read or to pass it on to a friend. Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

St. Paul challenges us to stir into flame the gift of God that we have received through the sacramental life handed on to us through our bishop and our priests. Through our participation in the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, we are invited to stir into flame our call to love, serve and build up the kingdom in the parishes, schools and ministries of the archdiocese. Our parish has currently committed $5,205.00 towards our goal of $40,563.00. Help us reach our participation goal of 28%. Thank you for your generosity.

Vocations Ten Things That Promote Vocations (4 of 5) ENTER INTO THE SILENCE. Silence is key to sanity and wholeness. We can only “hear” the voice of God if we are quiet. Take out the ear buds of your iPhone, iPod, and iTunes and listen to God, the great I AM. Young people should try to spend 15 minutes of quiet prayer each day – this is where you can begin to receive clear direction in your lives. Fr David Toups BE A GOOD DISCIPLE. Some bishops say, “We do not have a vocation crises; we have a discipleship crisis.” Young people can become true followers of Jesus Christ by serving those around them. By discovering your call to discipleship, you also discover your particular call within the Church. Fr David Toups That by the power of the Holy Spirit, every Catholic called to the priesthood and consecrated life will guard the treasure of their unique vocation in Christ and fan into flame their love for Him, we pray to the Lord. This week pray for Seminarian Michael Figura. Read his vocations story and biography at https://archomaha.org/vocations/seminary-life/michael-figura/ "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.” (Luke 17.6) Will you help build other’s faith as a priest or religious? Contact Father Harry Buse at 402‐731‐4694 or email: [email protected].
