Organ Donation Metrics 2015 2016 Organ Donors 2 5 True Conversion Rate 100% 83% Organs Transplanted Per Donor 2.5 2 Recipients Transplanted 5 9 COMPASSION During one of the most stressful times in people’s lives, our staff has found ways to offer comfort and support to our patients and their families. We use a Charis (grace) cart and help families create legacy mementoes. For example, we capture fingerprints, locks of hair, clay handprints, give care notes and prayer blankets. HONOR To honor the donor and donor family, we perform a Donate Life flag raising ceremony that includes the family and multidisciplinary team. Bellin administration has provided a budget that allows us to give the family flowers or mementos at the ceremony. The ceremony is a powerful healing experience for all. TEAMWORK Making these life-giving miracles of donation takes a team that works like a well-oiled machine. Careful support from our physicians, chaplains, nurses, aids, surgeons, and respiratory therapists working in harmony make this phenomenon happen. KNOWLEDGE Spread the word! We can all be heroes. The donation booth at the Bellin Run brought awareness and supported donation. We had an employee share his personal story about donation to hospital staff.
