Later they built a home in Westchester and then Mt. Prospect. Violet and Richard had three children, all with the initials KRK. Violet was a stay-at-home mother to Karen, the oldest, followed by Keith, and then Kristine as the youngest. Violet loved being a mom and later worked for over 15 years at a nursery school—a job she loved. (Cover Story Continued on Page 6)

Front Cover StoryContinued

Violet and Richard both loveddancing at supper clubs and theAragon Ballroom. Their song wasBegin the Beguine by Cole Porter.

There are fond memories offamily trips to Sand Lake,Wisconsin. It was pretty rustic—not a real vacation for Violet. Shedid all the cooking. She evenbrought a pressure cooker andmade a pork roast at the lake.Violet is not a fan of air travel butwent to England to visit her son.During the 8-hour flight toHeathrow, she never left her seat! She braved air travel again afterher family threw her a surprisebirthday party when she turned80. Her special gift was a trip toDisney World with her childrenand grandchildren. Violet says hergreatest accomplishment is herchildren. She is also very proud ofher four grandchildren—Lauren,

Stephanie, Mike and Kate. Thenthere is her first great-grandchild,6-month-old greatgrandsonDeclan Gabriel. It makes sensethat when I asked her what sheliked about her Disney trip, Violetreplied, “Just being with myfamily.”
