With the recent winter storm hitting Virginia, Bon Secours employees went above and beyond to ensure that our facilities ran smoothly and our patients received the very best care. Below is a thank you message that Bon Secours St. Francis employee Betty J. Wesley shared earlier this week. Good morning my St. Francis Family: I have worked for Bon Secours since Feb 13, 1995, and each year I have had the great pleasure of staying on campus during the bad snowstorms. I started at St. Mary’s. That is when the “adventure” began. I never had the pleasure of working for a health facility, so it was all new to me. My manager and I would stay together. Sometimes we would stay in a room at the hospital, and other times, she had to stay at one of the guest houses, but, it was always such fun! We never looked at it as a strenuous task, but another opportunity for a group of teammates to hang together! The weather forecast for the weekend of Jan. 22, 2016, called for a “big” snowstorm. I was off on Thursday, Jan. 21. I called Dawn Baumgartner (Nursing Supervisor), and had a request for my co-worker, Donna Kessler and me to be put on the list for a place to sleep. Dawn informed me that she would call me on Friday morning Jan. 22 to give me all specifics. Just as she had said, Dawn called me at the switchboard, took the information for Donna and me and the length of time that we would need a room, etc. I said all that, to say this, this weekend from Friday, Jan. 22, to Monday morning Jan. 25, 2016, I have been here at St. Francis Medical Center, and it has been “heavenly.” Everyone from Administration, teammates, Nutrition Services, Security, Engineering, Chesterfield Police (Officer Thomas) who assisted me by driving me to my car, cleaning it off, and backing it into a clean space in the parking lot. To give specifics and names, for this positive, encouraging, helpful, terrific display of compassion and helpfulness, would take more paper than I have available! One word sums it all up: “THANKS” to everyone! — Betty J. Wesley BON SECOURS HEALTH SYSTEM Have a Work-Related Snow Story? Do you have a story to share? Email Dawn Trivette.

Francis Family:

I have worked for Bon Secours since Feb 13, 1995, and each year I have had the great pleasure of staying on campus during the bad snowstorms.

One word sums it all up: “THANKS” to everyone!— Betty J. Wesley
