Labourers’ Union Local 506(Construction Division - Retiree Members) Benefit Trust1

LiUNA Local 506 and the Board of Trustees of the LiUNA Local 506 Benefit Trust Funds are pleased to announce significant enhancements to the existing benefits within the Trust Funds and the implementation of new benefits for all members and their eligible dependents.

It has been our mandate and vision to expand and enhance the programs for all members, retirees, eligible dependents and beneficiaries of the Trust Funds.

With the challenges facing Trust Funds within the current economic environment and escalating healthcare costs, it is imperative we respect and deliver benefits that will be of value to all members on both a day to day basis and during catastrophic situations and be prudent and guard the Trust Funds against abuse.

The Board of Trustees focused on making improvements and enhancements in the following key areas:

Eligibility for Benefits.

Enhance existing Core Benefits – Major Medical, Prescription Drugs, Vision Care, Life Insurance.

Introduce new benefits providing additional security during times of need.

Improve member access and communication to the benefits and programs.

Improve service to the membership in a efficient and respectful manner.

Initiate processes and practices to protect the Trust Funds to ensure that the programs are available to the members when required and under the appropriate situations.

Enclosed you will find a Benefit Enhancement Pamphlet which summarizes the benefit enhancements which will be effective for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

You will also find a new Benefit Booklet which outlines all the eligibility criteria, enhancements and new benefits.

In addition, you can access all the above information at the new Trust Fund Website at www.506membersbenefits.ca.

The Trustees are also pleased to announce the opening of the LiUNA Local 506 Trust Fund Administration Office located at the LiUNA Local 506 headquarters. There are a dedicated group of employees who will assist with all your benefit needs and questions.

We are proud of the collective success of the above that will benefit all members of LiUNA Local 506.

The Executives of Local 506 and the Board of Trustees of the Labourers’ Union Local 506 (Construction Division) Employee Benefit Trust are pleased to advise you of the following enhancements to your benefit program for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Labourers’ Union Local 506(Construction Division - Retiree Members) Benefit Trust 2

Life Insurance - Retiree

The Life Insurance benefit for Retirees has increased from $12,000 to $20,000 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Life Insurance - Spouses

The Life Insurance benefit for Spouses has increased from $5,000 to $10,000 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Life Insurance - Dependents

The Life Insurance benefit for Dependents has increased from $5,000 to $10,000 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Healthcare Lifetime Maximum

The Healthcare Lifetime maximum has increased from $100,000 to $1,000,000 per insured family member for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Occupational Therapy

A Occupational Therapy benefit has been added to the Paramedical Practitioner benefits for Retirees and eligible dependents for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Naturopath

A Naturopath benefit has been added to the Paramedical Practitioner benefits for Retirees and eligible dependents for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Psychotherapist

A Psychotherapist benefit has been added to the Paramedical Practitioner benefits for Retirees and eligible dependents for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Paramedical Practitioner BenefitsThe Paramedical Practitioner benefits (Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Podiatrist/Chiropodist, Speech Therapist, Naturopath, Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Osteopath, Acupuncture, Occupational Therapy and Massage Therapy) has increased to a $50 per visit maximum up to a combined $1,000 maximum per calendar year, for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Orthopedic Shoes

1 pair every 24 months to an overall maximum of $250 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Orthotics

1 pair reimbursed at 50% up to a maximum of $400 every 24 months for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Hearing Aids

The Hearing Aid benefit has increased from $400 to $750 every 36 months for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Dental Care

The ODA fee guide reimbursement has increased from 2015 to 2016 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Dental Care - Bridge/Crowns

The Bridge/Crowns coverage has been increased from 90% to 100% coverage for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Dental Care

The Dental Care benefit has increased to $3,000 per annum for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Vision Care

The Vision Care benefit has increased to $400 once every 24 months for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Hospital Cash

A Hospital Cash benefit for Retirees and eligible dependents has been implemented of $50 per day to a maximum of 120 days up to age 70 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Emergency Out of Province/Country - Up to Age 70

The Emergency Out of Province/Country benefit has increased from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 for a 90 consecutive day trip up to age 70 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Emergency Out of Province/Country - Age 80 +

Please contact the plan administrator to discuss acquiring Emergency Out of Province coverage for members who are over age 80.

Trip Cancellation/Interruption

Trip Cancellation/Interruption insurance has been implemented as part of the Emergency Out of Province/Country benefit for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

OHIP + Youth Pharmacare Program

Starting January 1, 2018, more than 4,400 drug products are free for members or dependents age 24 years or younger. Those eligible must present their OHIP health card when picking up eligible prescriptions.

Emergency Out of Province/Country - Age 70 to 74

A Emergency Out of Province/Country benefit has been implemented at $1,000,000 for a 90 consecutive day trip between age 70 to 74 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Emergency Out of Province/Country - Age 75 to 80

A Emergency Out of Province/Country benefit has been implemented at $500,000 for a 90 consecutive day trip between age 75 to 80 for all claims incurred on or after March 1, 2018.

Local 506 Trust Administration OfficeWe are proud to announce that as of February 1, 2018, LiUNA Local 506 Trust Administration has opened an office at the Local 506 headquarters.

Located at 3750 Chesswood Drive - Suite 1 the office is open for all members to come in for any and all inquiries about their benefit plan.

Our knowledgable staff are eager to help you with any questions you may have about your benefit plan. Give us a call at 416-506-8841.
