benefits of having sage clinician in your facility/district
TRANSCRIPT
For many students with emotional needs,
education in a mainstream environment does
not provide sufficient support to be
academically successful.
Sage Day schools and programs provide an innovative approach to therapeutic education for
students who are in need of increased emotional support.
Students who find the most success utilizing Sage Day resources are those suffering from
depression, school phobia, school avoidance, anxiety disorders, and other debilitating issues.
With early intervention, troublesome behaviors and
symptoms that interfere with academic and social
functioning can be mitigated; however, if left
unchecked the problems can become very severe
and necessitate more restrictive intervention.
Early identification and treatment of emotional difficulties in children can increase the reach and cost-
effectiveness of special education services for students in need of additional support.
The Progressive Least Restrictive Environment (PLRE) is the Sage Day response to creating a
learning environment that meets the needs of students who would otherwise not be successful in a
mainstream education system.
PLRE offers emotionally fragile students the unique resources and support they need to succeed in
school and in life by offering:
• A continuum of services ranging from in-district supportive therapy to short or longer-term
placement in a therapeutic school.
• Consistent evaluation for appropriate intervention and specialized care services.
• Comprehensive transition services depending on student progress, in an effort to increase
success in the mainstream social and academic environment.
This variable level of care gives Sage Day and school districts the opportunity to work together to
provide the most effective and transformational interventions to students in need.
Sage Day is a private,
accredited, therapeutic school
for students grades 4-12.
By following Common Core and rigorous Elementary and Secondary School standards, Sage Day
maintains a progressive and challenging educational experience. Success comes from providing
students with a small, personalized learning environment.
The Sage Day motto is to complement strong
academics with comprehensive clinical support
programs, including:
• Counseling
• Classroom observation
• In-service presentations to school staff
• Support and consultation of self-
contained programs
Intensive individual, group, and family therapy
are also fully integrated into the program as
effective components of intervention.
Students receive academic guidance as well as the support services and counseling they require.
Students will gain the support, strategies, and insight they need in order to make progress in school
and to better manage their emotional lives.
By joining the Sage Day community, students often find renewed confidence and academic success.
Community is a central aspect to the success of Sage Day schools.
Students are expected to:
• Be productive and conscientious members of the school community.
• Form bonds and learn to cooperate and rely on one another.
• Make meaningful contributions to Sage Day and the greater community.
Clearly, Sage Day schools have earned their reputation as “a place to belong.”
Sage Day consultation services are designed to fill the gap in service between traditional in-school
support and an out-of-district placement.
The Sage Day team works with the child study team, academic staff, and administration to provide a
seamless counseling experience for a student in transition.
By implementing these vital therapeutic services, public schools can enhance their programs to meet
the needs of more students, which dramatically increases the number of students maintained in-district.
Sage Day schools and services offer comprehensive programs to aid teachers and
administrative staff in implementing effective education and care to emotionally
fragile students. For more information regarding our campuses and services, visit
