BENTS GREEN SECONDARY SCHOOL 8 January 2013 Dear Parent/Carer, I am writing to inform you that we have been extremely fortunate in having another successful application for tickets to visit the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. Every year several matinee (afternoon) tickets go on sale as part of The Taylor Foundation Trust. This is an amazing opportunity to see a professional production in one of the most prestigious musical venues in the world! I should add that evening tickets for Covent Garden are usually £195 each! We have got twelve tickets to see Puccini’s opera ‘TOSCA, a fabulous story with lots of passion and tragedy in equal measure! The date is THURSDAY 28 th February 2013. We are travelling to London by train, and then may use the London underground or public bus to and from Covent Garden. We will meet as a group at Sheffield train station at approximately 7.10am and travel on the 7.41am train to St Pancras, (Yes … sorry it’s so early!) We will return on the 6.55pm train which arrives at Sheffield train station at 9.25pm. Unfortunately, we have very little choice with the return times as it is far more expensive to travel peak times on the train. Final travel arrangements will be sent nearer the time, but it will be parent’s responsibility to arrange transport for their child to and from the station. Families will need to provide a packed lunch. The school will be asking for a voluntary contribution of £30.00 to go towards the travel costs, the cost of the opera ticket, and the costs of an evening meal before we leave to come back to Sheffield. (Last year we went to a lovely little Italian bistro in Covent Garden and had pizza and pasta etc.!) I realise that this may seem a lot of money, and you can choose to pay in instalments if you prefer, but it really is very good value when you consider what we are actually doing and where we are going, and I have tried to keep costs to a minimum. BENTS GREEN SECONDARY SCHOOL

8 January 2013

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you that we have been extremely fortunate in having another successful application for tickets to visit the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. Every year several matinee (afternoon) tickets go on sale as part of The Taylor Foundation Trust. This is an amazing opportunity to see a professional production in one of the most prestigious musical venues in the world! I should add that evening tickets for Covent Garden are usually £195 each!

We have got twelve tickets to see Puccini’s opera ‘TOSCA’, a fabulous story with lots of passion and tragedy in equal measure! The date is THURSDAY 28th February 2013.

We are travelling to London by train, and then may use the London underground or public bus to and from Covent Garden.

We will meet as a group at Sheffield train station at approximately 7.10am and travel on the 7.41am train to St Pancras, (Yes … sorry it’s so early!)

We will return on the 6.55pm train which arrives at Sheffield train station at 9.25pm.

(Last year we went to a lovely little Italian bistro in Covent Garden and had pizza and pasta etc.!)

I realise that this may seem a lot of money, and you can choose to pay in instalments if you prefer, but it really is very good value when you consider what we are actually doing and where we are going, and I have tried to keep costs to a minimum.

Please send the reply slip back as soon as possible so that we can begin to plan the day. We have made this trip several times before and it has always been a long and exhausting day, but also a marvellous and memorable experience. It will be a valuable piece of evidence for the Trinity Guildhall Arts Award portfolio for those pupils doing Performing Arts in Y10.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Judith Ennis Music Tutor
