Beresford Spring 2011 Afterschool Enrichment Classes:Drawing, Painting &Mixed Media and Engineering FUNdamentalswith LEGO.Spring classes meet eight times from April 20th - June is". Both these classes will be 75-minutes long and meet every Wednesday afternoon from 1:05-2:20 pm. Supervised lunchtimewill be available for students enrolled in the classes.

Art Class - Drawing, Painting &Mixed MediaOpen to 2nd-5th gradersLimited to 16 studentsMeets in Room 13Eight 75-minute sessions for $90 per studentWe welcome Mariana Fay back to teach a new art class this spring: Drawing, Painting andMixed Media. She has 18 years of experience as an art teacher and has many pieces of publicart that can be seen here in the Bay Area.

This class will focus on painting and drawing and will use charcoal, chalk and oil pastels,watercolor and other interesting media. The projects will focus on the "how to's" of drawingand painting, as well as introducing art from around the world with some of the projectsdrawing from Batik, African design, a look at Mexican American artists Patssi Valdez andJuana Alicia and their styles of "magical realism", stained "glass" art, and more. The class willproduce many nice pieces to bring home and display proudly!

Play-Wel lEngineering FUNdamentals with LEGOOpen to K_2ndgradersLimited to 16 studentsMeets in Room 8Eight 75-minute sessions for $136 per studentYour child can become a Lego engineer! Students take on real-life engineering challengesthat explore concepts in physics, architecture, mechanical and structural engineering with over100,000 pieces of LEOO material. From racecars to Battletracks, this is a hands-on andminds-on class suitable for LEOO novices to "maniacs." Designed by engineers, thecurriculum challenges both new and experienced students to reach the next level ofengineering comprehension all while having fun. Instructor Dan Merlin is teaching the olderversion of this class at Beresford now and the kids love him! (Note: students will not get tokeep the LEGOs.)

In themorning, your children use a lot of energy in class learning all the things their teachersteach them. They also use a lot of energy in PE class and during recess. Tambien usan mucha energia en la clase de PE y durante el reereo.Es imperativo que sus niiios tengan un bocadillos nutritive para comer durante el reereo/ tiempodel boeadillo para que eIlos reeuperen su energfa y esten listos para continuar aprendiendo.Ademas, este bocadillo necesita ser uno que es saludable. Muchos nines vienen a la escuela conpapitas fritas y dulces como bocadillos. En verdad, los bocadillos que eontienen mucha aziicarles dan a los niiios un estimulo de energfa al principio pero Iuego sufren de una "cafda de azucar"en una hora. [Muchas papitas en bolsa sorprendentemente tienen mucha azucar! Esta cafda deazucar impide la habilidad de sus nifios de eoncentrarse durante el tiempo en la escuela.
