The E2S2 at a GlanceThere is a lot of detailed information on the pages that follow, but below are a few

key elements regarding the E2S2 that highlight its value and create separation from

competitive products:

• CSC Certified.

• 9-high stackable outer shell.

• 2-high stackable when deployed.

• Standard cargo container floor frame with forklift pockets.

• Lightweight Aluminum inner frame support Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), SIPs, commonly referred to as “sandwhich panels” consist of 2 outer structural skins and an insulating core that is stronger and more energy efficient than traditional framing materials.

• SIPs consisting of polyurethane foam core with bonded 0.25 inch panels made of polypropylene honeycomb core and gel coated fiberglass skins.

• Thermal breaks between ISO shell and inner frame prevent radiant heat transfer to the shelter’s interior.

• Heavy-duty piano-hinge design resists corrosion in extreme environments and damage during transportation.

• 3 inches of R17 rated cellulose spray-foam insulation in container ceiling. Walls and floor are R-15 rated SIPs.

• Gas Spring and winch assisted ceiling and floor panel deployment allows safe 2 person, 10 minute setup.

• Small mechanical room with external cargo door access provides storage for

deployment tools.

• E2S2 can be deployed on un-prepared surfaces with grade differential of 3 ft over 20 foot span due to leveling jacks and sand pads. Expandable wing floors are self-supporting.

The Next Generation ShelterSetting the StandardThe E2S2 represents the next generation of ISO container-based expandable shelters

designed to maximize energy efficiency and provide ultimate flexibility in transport,

deployment, configurations and floor plans. It is the new standard for forward

operating bases or remote industrial camps.

Most importantly, the E2S2 was created by Berg Company, a leading provider of

premier camp solutions. Since 1883, Berg earned a reputation of quality, innovation

and customer services that remains unmatched. From general purpose tents to

entire remote camps. Berg can do it all. More than just a supplier, Berg creates lasting

partnerships that lead to successful camp deployments, large or small.

The Importance of Energy EfficiencyThe E2S2 complies with all current and future government and military standards for

shelter environmental control such as MIL-STD-810 and for ISO shipping containers

ISO 1496-1. Because of this, not only provides comfortable and maneagable living and

working spaces, it saves fuel. This is critical not only because of the operational cost

savings, but because using less fuel saves lives. Reducing fuel transport frequency helps

minimize risks associated with both military and private sector fuel transport incidents

and accidents.

At Berg, the innovation doesn’t stop with energy efficiency. We provide a range of

energy saving and solar-power generation options that enable even further comfort

and savings. Our winterization accessories also protect the fuel and water lines and

keep the camp running smoothly.

Berg also partners with clients to bring their ideas to life. We set the standard for

rapidly developing prototypes and ramping production. Our management and staff is

experienced, dedicated and committed to your satisfaction.

Energy EfficientImproving Camp LivabilityThe advantages of an energy efficient hardsided shelters over softsided tents

are many. Chief among these advantages is soldier and worker comfort.

The E2S2 is less sensitive to the extreme temperature often found in remote

locations. The thermal break design that leverages the natural insulative

characteristics of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs).

The Economics of Energy EfficiencyBecause the E2S2 improves energy efficiency, it naturally saves money. By

requiring less fuel to operate, the E2S2 is creates long term sustainable value

to your organization. Consuming less fuel also means less burden on logistics

expenditures and personnel and with the rising cost of fuel, the savings are

becoming exponential.

SafetyIn military operations, fuel transport represents a target risk in areas of active

conflict. E2S2 helps reduce the quantity and frequency of fuel transport. This

minimizes the risk associated with fuel transport in hostile environments.

In the private sector, the benefits of reduced fuel consumption and transport

are largely economical, but less handling of fuel results in lower risk of

accidents.

The E2S2 was deployed from a closed state under controlled factory conditions with trained personnel in less than 6 minutes. The actual time for field deployment will vary. E2S2 is stackable for efficient storage

when not deployed and efficient space-saving stacking when space is at a premium:

• 9 high when closed

• 2 high when deployed.

Attachable external stairs or portable elevator can be used to access second floor.
