CITY BUS SERVICESA project Special PurposeVehicle(SPV)started to facilitate the CityBus Service within the city and peripheryarea of Berhampur, Hinjilicut, Chatrapurand Gopalpur by incorporating a Companyunder Companies Act,1956 namely“Ganjam Urban Transport ServiceLimited”(GUTSL) in the year 2013-14.Theregistered office of GUTSL is functioning atAnnex Building of Berhampur DevelopmentAuthority. GUTSL has so far procured Thirty Two(32) number of buses(28 Seated).The Depot-cum-Terminus for City bus services of GUTSL is situated at Haladiapadar,Berhampur. The project was inaugurated online by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odishaon 26.2.14.GUTSL facilitates the intracity and intercity bus service for the generalpublic.Buses are routed through from Berhampur toChatrapur,Gopalpur,Hinjilicut,Nandika,Bhabandha,Biswanathpur,Taratarini,sonepur,Madhapur ,Seragada,Rukunigam ,Haradakhandi

National Urban Livelihood Mission(NULM)

For up-liftment of the urban poor by enabling them to accessgainful self employment and skilled wage employmentopportunities on a sustainable basis, the GoI has lunched NULMfor providing skill training, Capacity Building, Social mobilisationand institutional development. This also include selfemployment programme and support to urban street vendors.The scheme is now in operation in the BeMC and the followingare some of the highlights.2989 nos of beneficiaries shall commence training onComputer( DTP, Tally and Hardware & networking students),Driving, Beautician training, Garment Construction Techniqueetc.312 individuals, 15 groups and 359 SHGs already identified foravailing loan under SEP(individual) SEP(Group) & SHG BankLinkage .Shelter for Urban Homeless is under process for the homelesspeople residing under BeMC.1285 nos of Street Vendors identified for whom Identity cards,Vending space, Skill training etc. are to be provided.

LED street lights will provide the followingbenefits compared to HID

•Improved nighttime visibility and safety throughbetter color rendering, more uniform lightingdistributions and the elimination of many dark areasbetween poles.•Reduced direct and reflected uplight which are theprimary causes of urban sky glow.•40-80% energy savings (depending on incumbentlighting source and lighting design criteria).•50-75% street lighting maintenance savings.

In this regard BeMC has already installed LED streetlights in the major main roads like that New BusStand road and ROB Haldiapadar. The process ofreplacement of HID lights with LED lights in othermain roads/streets is being taken up in right earnest.

BeMC proposed to established one septagetreatment plant with the cost of Rs. 2.38 Cr. in the financial year 2015-16. Dueto problem in land acquisition the plant work delayed.

Healthy habit ofsavings Rs. 100 per member per month iswell maintained since inception and atpresent the corpus touched Rs 3,00,000/-.SHG has taken lead role to select ASHA .Theparticipation of members in discussionsduring the meetings is quite encouraging.Micro social enterprise i.e. Chatuapreparation is the main activity and theproduce is supplied to different schools, itwas started way back in the year 2005 with abank loan of Rs 50,000/-from Andhra Bank,Sana Bazar, Berhampur, now BighnaswariSHG is generating an average income of Rs.3,60,000 per annum.Business plan, books of accounts are wellmaintained, however no annual audit wasdone during last financial year. Now it is wellconceived by all members that the initiativetaken as income generating activities need tobe scaled up and negotiation is on withbankers to avail a loan amounting to Rs 1,50,000.

Achievement of SHG groups formed In Association of

BeMC and NULMLaxmi SHG was formed on 2013 with 10 members at BeMC area located at Berhampur road .The SHG was formed byBerhampur Municipal Corporation the SHG meets on weekly on Sunday at 6.00 pm minimum for one hour. Membersattend the group meetings regularly except during the occasions like when they fell sick or when they go out of the town,they inform to the leaders well ahead and they take permission. The SHG is having a rule that if a member absentsherself without telling any reason for two meetings, she needs to pay a fine of Rs.10 to the group. The group membersundertake all cash transactions only during the group meeting. Mrs. K.Parbati, a 9th pass as president of the Group .Mrs. K. lakshmi as Representative of the group (studied up to 8thstandard). Both Mrs. K.Parbati and Mrs. .K. lakshmiare good entrepreneurs and having attended the enterprise development training, they look forward to scale up theirenterprises. The group started with the savings of Rs.50 per member per month. After three months, the membersraised the savings as Rs.100 per month per member and then after one year the group raised the savings as Rs.150per member per month. For the last 2years, the group members started saving Rs.200 per member per month. Thesavings accumulated by the SHG so far is Rs. 75,000/-. The savings is rotated by the SHG as internal loan to itsmembers and the members have to repay the loan in 10 monthly installments at an interest rate of 2% interest permonth on the reducing balance of the loan. There is no overdue in the internal loans repayment. The SHG keeps aminimum account on hand (not more than Rs.600 at hand and rest is deposited in the bank account immediately on thefollowing day) or at the bank and rotate the maximum funds among its members as loans. Every month, one member inrotation goes to the bank branch for depositing the savings of the group. At the end of the group meetings before puttingthe minutes of the meeting in record, leaders read out the financial transactions taken up during the meeting anddecisions made during the meeting.At the inception stage, there were 10 members in the group and over a period 3 members dropped out of the group, as3 of them migrated to Chennai as their children got a job in Chennai. Out of 3 drop outs, immediately after the droppingthree woman joined the group as a new member of the group with the proper consent of all other remaining membersand the group had applied a loan to start patta making. Achievement of SHG groups formed In Association of

BeMC and NULMLaxmi SHG was formed on 2013 with 10 members at BeMC area located at Berhampur road .The SHG was formed byBerhampur Municipal Corporation the SHG meets on weekly on Sunday at 6.00 pm minimum for one hour. Membersattend the group meetings regularly except during the occasions like when they fell sick or when they go out of the town,they inform to the leaders well ahead and they take permission. The SHG is having a rule that if a member absentsherself without telling any reason for two meetings, she needs to pay a fine of Rs.10 to the group. The group membersundertake all cash transactions only during the group meeting. Mrs. K.Parbati, a 9th pass as president of the Group .Mrs. K. lakshmi as Representative of the group (studied up to 8thstandard). Both Mrs. K.Parbati and Mrs. .K. lakshmiare good entrepreneurs and having attended the enterprise development training, they look forward to scale up theirenterprises. The group started with the savings of Rs.50 per member per month. After three months, the membersraised the savings as Rs.100 per month per member and then after one year the group raised the savings as Rs.150per member per month. For the last 2years, the group members started saving Rs.200 per member per month. Thesavings accumulated by the SHG so far is Rs. 75,000/-. The savings is rotated by the SHG as internal loan to itsmembers and the members have to repay the loan in 10 monthly installments at an interest rate of 2% interest permonth on the reducing balance of the loan. There is no overdue in the internal loans repayment. The SHG keeps aminimum account on hand (not more than Rs.600 at hand and rest is deposited in the bank account immediately on thefollowing day) or at the bank and rotate the maximum funds among its members as loans. Every month, one member inrotation goes to the bank branch for depositing the savings of the group. At the end of the group meetings before puttingthe minutes of the meeting in record, leaders read out the financial transactions taken up during the meeting anddecisions made during the meeting.At the inception stage, there were 10 members in the group and over a period 3 members dropped out of the group, as3 of them migrated to Chennai as their children got a job in Chennai. Out of 3 drop outs, immediately after the droppingthree woman joined the group as a new member of the group with the proper consent of all other remaining membersand the group had applied a loan to start patta making. Berhampur Municipal Corporation was included in RAY (RajivAwas Yojana) for slums in the year 2011 after Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Acity level Technical Cell was farmed and the preparatory activities of slumsurvey, socioeconomic data and GIS napping with slum dwellersparticipation started in full swing. As per RAY guideline 163 slums havebeen enlisted for different winds of intervention for slum free city. All theslums have been categorised to be developed either insitu redevelopment, insitu up-gradation or resettlement as per tenability. AfterPhailin (severe cyclone) in 2013 the slum of Berhampur were devastated.Due to our timely steps no human lives very last.

Keeping in view the need for pucca structures with allamenities in the slums 83 slums covering 8008 households were enlistedin 9 DPRs and projects sanctioned by Govt. of India after due deliberation.Funds have been placed with BeMC for construction of differentcomponents under RAY for 8008 households in 9DPRs for eviction thework has been entrusted to 3 CPSU i.e. NBCC, New Delhi, Bridge & Roof,Kolkata and HSCL, Kolkata to complete the project by 21st March 2017.

Many tanksalso been cleaned by the corporation under aspecial drive.Maternity & child welfare programme has beenmade for giving polio drops and othervaccination programme under supervision andADMO (FW), ANM(PH) from time to time andthe details of which furnish by the Govt. HealthDeptt. There is no hospital under thiscorporation for providing health and maternityservice.The detailed information regarding choleras/Chicken fox / other communicable dieses andMalaria is enclosed.
