Investments in mobile marketing tech and services fell off precipitously in the first half of 2008, slowing to $80 million from $291 million a year ago, according to the latest M&A report from investment bank Petsky Prunier.

The mobile eco system continues to be much morehostile to startups than the online one.
We believe this is changing, though.

II. There are some interesting developments in Mobile Platforms
Now: imagine a platform as a cake
There have been cakes on the internet before: for example Wordpress
mobile platforms are not only about making them happy

all these people are “the eco system” in this presentation
Rich Miner’s Definition of Android:
1) "An Open Source mobile phone platform that encompassed every layer of the phone2) A series of phones powered by that platform3) A go to market strategy to guarantee global distribution of both platform and phones."
Android tries to make everybody in the “eco system” happy

That cake is so good it’s a actully a space cake

That is one of the things that makes them very happy
He can enter the smartphone market with many competetive
devices
He can count on many of his friends coming from Asia giving
him a good position to negotiate
That’s just one of many Android effects on the industry. I try to keep it simple in this presentation.
Your take-away: ignore the G1-iPhone comparisons in the media if your interest is in developing/making money.
So what’s with the iPhone net effect for now? jobs, performance indicators up the roof
(of course, the iPhone has many more effects. But theseare the main effects affecting your bottom line, imo)
III. The mobile web is emerging.
