Let’s Get Started!!Traci & Sekou-

Attached is your completed DRD EDesign plan for your Master Bedroom! Within this document you’ll find inspiration images giving you an idea of the feel I’m suggesting for your new Master Bedroom as well as a visual plan for the furniture and accessory items I’ve selected especially for you. On the last pages you’ll also find a concise shopping guide with prices for each item sourced. This will give you the flexibility to select the pieces that are most integral to your design plan and also give you an ability to compare

pricing for similar items as you see fit. Having the flexibility to select other similar items to what I’ve sourced will also help to ensure you stay within

your specified budget as you work this plan.

I know you’ll love this plan as much as I’ve loved working on it! It isn’t said nearly enough these days but I want to sincerely thank you for

selecting me to design your most intimate space. If you have any changes you want to make, questions about your design or anything you want to run

by me, please:

Really.

You deserve to have a bedroom that feels like you and that you’ll love for years to come. It’s my pleasure to partner with you and make that happen.

Happy Decorating!

Before PicturesAs you mentioned in your emails, this space was a blank slate for me to design upon. I hope I captured what you wanted for this space and

introduced some new ideas you haven’t considered while still fitting within your design scope. I know you will enjoy looking back on these images after you’re done with your room to take note of how far you’ve come!

Space PlanSpace Plan Features: • You’ve already selected the best layout for your Master Bedroom so the foundation of your room will

stay the same. According to the ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui, it’s best that the bed directly faces the door and is also as far from the door as

possible so all areas of the room can be seen. Added bonus--this is also great for security purposes.

•An alternative layout for your bedroom would be to place your bed along the wall opposite the

french doors--the only unobstructed wall in the room. The “Pros” of this plan are the added

space around the bed as well as direct access to natural light. The “Cons” include lighting placement (your ceiling fixture may not be

centered in the room), new hardwiring for TV access and non-direct access (at least for one person) to the TV. This plan may work well for

your needs, but my recommendation is to keep the layout as it.

• Your selected nightstands each have 3 drawers and the selected dresser has 10 drawers so your new room will feature loads of storage for your personal items. With the addition of am upholstered bench at the foot of the bed and an occasional chair for reading, your Master Bedroom now has places to dress, relax &

sleep in style.

Paint Colors: Your wall colors have been selected to balance and cool the

the plum accents. Violet/lavender/purple can actually be a masculine color when used with complementary tones! I’ve

selected 2 colors for your wall paint but you MUST test these first. Color is very hard to select without seeing a space in

person and things like room orientation and natural light accessibility will greatly

affect the final tone. You may find that you need a slightly lighter or darker

color for the exact look you’d like, so also try other shades on the same

Shopping List & Notes

TOTAL $7,412.49

Budget Notes: We’re slightly over budget as noted but the Riley Occasional chair is actually on backorder until

February 2015, so you may want to select a similar chair in its place, which would free up $1500. Ikea also has a

nice wingback chair that’s a good budget-friendly replacement around $350. Hear me loudly (lol)--it’s not as high-end as the one I’ve selected, but I’ve used it

before and my client loved it.

• Since the TV rests on your dresser, you should select either the African Juju Hat OR the Compass mirror to anchor your bed on the window wall. Both items have there plus’: the mirror is metallic which

adds an added layer of color & texture to the room (plus it’s mirrored), while the Juju hat is a visually stunning, highly textural piece of art. I love them

both!

• Some of your selected items are currently on sale so try to purchase those items first if you’re definitely ready to

get started. Keep in mind that bedroom furniture generally goes on sale during the holidays so this is the time! Deals can be found on recliners and chairs in May & June while mattress shopping is best in late May to early Fall. January & July are the best times of the

year to buy clearance furniture. Remember that these are just guidelines and there’s no way to tell if the piece you want will be on sale (or even a sale worth waiting for), so

if you see something you love, spring for it now!

• The drapery I’ve selected from Ikea are not blackout lined, though they do sell a blackout lining in the store.

I’m obsessed with Ikea panels and buy them clients, then customize by having my workroom add interlining and

blackout backing for light control and a more finished look. If you’d like me to do this for you, let me know and I’ll

send you a formal quote.

• Sometimes things get off track. Maybe the store sold out of your favorite item but don’t worry--all isn’t lost

yet! Study your Design Board and find alternative items that are similar in scale (size) and line (style). Slow & steady wins the race--you don’t have to buy everything on your list TODAY. DO save this plan to your phone...you

never know when you might run across a killer deal.

• There isn’t a line item for this on your shopping list, but I loved the silhouettes shown on the inspiration page and thought it could be a great way to include your children in the bedroom design in a way that mimics high-end, original art. If you can have these done, consider using Ikea frames as an inexpensive

framing option. And for my secret design trick, take the frames to Michael’s and have custom mats cut to fit your frames. Its a

fraction of the cost of fully custom! www.daykarobinsondesigns.com

**Consider adding a dimmer switch

to your chandelier...it’s a

great wayto set the mood in

seconds!
