fore you leave the club then there will be no suspension. If you leave the club with a mess, our caretaker will call you and inform you that your range card has been turned off and that the club will require you to per-form range cleanup for one hour to get your range card turned back on. Any questions or concerns can be di-rected to : Jason Grimm: (269) 927-1793 Jim Essig: (269) 429-9797

Attention: Range Users Club range rule 2.22 states: Always police the range, any range, and clean up brass and mess after you’re fin-ished. This includes Archery, Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun ranges.

It has come to the attention of the elected officials that we have some members and/or guests that are not cleaning up after themselves when leaving the club ranges. The main vio-lation is large amounts of cartridge cases just left in piles on the ranges. This is causing unnecessary man-hour and maintenance expense It only takes a few minutes to clean up after yourself and deposit the cases in the provided buckets, not in the trash cans. It is your club and your responsi-bility. Violation of club range rule 2.22 will cause a temporary suspension of your range privileges. If our caretaker sees a violation and brings it to your atten-tion and you clean up your mess be-CONTINUED

AN ACTIVITY AT THE BERRIEN

COUNTY SPORTSMAN’S CLUB?

If it is happening at Berrien County Sportsman's Club, be sure your event gets into the monthly club newsletter. Let the BCSC newsletter help you get the word out to our members. Does your club activity sponsor weekly or monthly events? Put a monthly column in the newsletter and build participa-tion. Email details to:

The Club Newsletter is Going All-Digital

Club Members: Due to the expense of mailing the newsletter, we will be phasing out dis-tribution of the newsletter via US Mail after the June issue this year. Starting in July of 2017, you will only be able to get a printed version of the newsletter by coming to the club and getting one from the clubhouse foyer. This should be easy for most active members, as you must sign in when you get to the club anyway. If you are not currently receiving the newsletter via email, send your name and email address to:

[email protected] This will assure that you are getting your digital copy of the newsletter each month. If you do not wish to give us your email, you may also download a PDF of the newsletter from the club website at:

www.bcsportsmansclub.com

The money we save on postage will be used to promote the club in other ways. Thank you, Cean Burgeson Newsletter Editor

Trap and Skeet News Effective immediately, the club ranges will be open for trap and skeet from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. until Labor day week-end. The new skeet building should be up and operational sometime during the month of June. These shoots are in addition to Sunday’s and Tuesday’s normal times. Tom Holt. CMP Rifle Shoot Schedule for 2017

This year’s shoots will now be changed to Sundays and the cost of using the club gun will be $50. The reason for this is the increased price of ammunition. If you figure the cost of 52 rounds of 30-06 ammunition; you will find that you will pay over $50. So, by raising the cost, we are only recovering the cost of ammunition for the club. The cost to shoot bringing your own ammunition and gun will remain at $10. All shoots will start at 8 a.m. on the rifle range.

NEW

MEMBERS, BRING YOUR

PISTOLS

New members! Come on out with your pistol on Thursday nights and enjoy shooting with some of the old members. We would like to meet you and have you use our indoor pistol and rifle range. We will help you with your shooting skills for when you decide to take the club’s monthly CPL class. If you are not a current CPL holder, you will need to be sure to separate your ammunition and firearm and place these two items in different parts of your vehicle when transporting your firearm. The clubhouse range opens at 7:00 p.m. Martin Prillwitz

IDPA shoots are the second Satur-day of each month. Shooting runs from 8 a.m. to noon. Come on out and see what it’s all about.

DNR Southwest Lower

Peninsula Fishing Report St. Joseph: Boat anglers continued to make good catches of trout and salmon. Fish were caught well past 200 feet. There were also nice catches of fish from 80 to 100 feet, with most caught on spoons and spin doctors and flies. Pier anglers were still catching lots of channel catfish. Most were caught on night crawlers and stinkbait. The occasional steel-

head was also caught on shrimp.

St. Joseph River: Anglers drifting night crawl-

ers and trolling small crank baits were catch-

ing lots of walleye - most in the lower river.

South Haven: Boat anglers were catching good numbers of lake trout and salmon in 70 to 90 feet. Blue and green spoons seemed to

work best. Pier fishing was very slow.

Kalamazoo River: Nice walleye catches were

reported around Saugatuck.

Grand Haven: Salmon fishing continued to be good. Boats were finding Chinook, along with some coho, near the pier heads in 30 to 60 feet of water. Offshore they were catching fish 30 to 100 feet down in 120 to 180 feet of wa-ter. Orange, green or pink spoons were work-ing well, along with white flasher flies. Some anglers on the pier were catching Chinook on

alewives.

Grand River near Grand Rapids: Walleye

and bass were caught in good numbers near

6th Street Dam.

Grand River near Lansing: Those catch-and-release fishing for bass were seeing quite a

few fish near Grand River Park.

Muskegon: Offshore boats were doing well

on Chinook and coho 25 to 100 feet down in 140 to 200 feet of water. Green, orange or pink spoons were doing well, as were white

flashers with green or white flies.

Whitehall: Anglers trolling in 150 to 200 feet were catching Chinook and coho on spoons. Most fish were caught in the top 50 feet. Pier anglers casting spoons caught them as well,

along with the occasional steelhead.
