ACNE TREATMENT

If we see any acne on our face then it’s the right time to see skin doctor

for acne treatment so that he can tell the cause of the acne, how long it is

going to last and what is going to be the line of treatment. If acne is not

treated on time then it can lead to acne marks and acne scarring.

Acne is a very common problem which is

nowadays faced a lot by both male and

females at equal ratio. Acne can come at

any age. Some times acne comes in early

puberty and sometimes patients can get

acne in their late age.

There are a lot of causes of Acne Like

Puberty acne

Hormonal changes

Clogging of the pores with the comedogenic products.

Inadequate care of the skin

Stress induced and topical steroid induced acne

Common acne vulgaris: - common acne vulgaris is treated with

topical agents, specific face washes which are meant for acne prone

skin

Severe acne vulgaris with postural eruptions:- acne vulgaris with

postural eruptions can be corrected by oral anti biotic

Acne due HARMONAL CHANGES:- acne due to the hormonal

changes is generally associated with PCOD and Hirsutism .

One must consult dermatologist / endocrinologist before

starting the treatment.

There are various varieties of acne.

Every acne treatment is different

and varies from patient to patient.

Various kinds of acne are:-

Oil induced acne:- oil induced acne are

also very common form of acne, they

generally occur when the oil glands get

closed due to the comedones. Using

thick creams, hair styling gels, hair spas

will increase the acne.

Drug induced acne: - drug induced acne

are generally very common among the

patients who take oral steroids, anti

tuberculosis therapy, oral anti cancer

drugs.

Severe cystic acne:-IT is a severe

variety of cystic acne; it is generally

treated by oral retinoids. Most

commonly given oral retinoid is

isotretinoin and it is prescribed only

by dermatologist only

Steroid induced acne:- topical steroids are

to be avoided in such acnes. Topical

steroids generally give us a temporary relief

but when we stop them the acne reoccurs

back. Topical steroids are nowadays

misused a lot. So avoid them.

AVOID PREGNANCY...AVOID PREGNANCY… AVOID PREGNANCY during the course of the treatment and three months after the treatment.

Acne treatment totally depends upon the kind of acne you are having.

If it is normal acne vulgaris then your skin doctor will correct it with

the face washes and topical ointments and if it is cystic acne then your

skin specialist will prescribe you with the oral medication and topical

medication depending upon the grading of your acne.

In some cases where scarring

and marks are there, the doctorwill take the help of lasers.

In acne treatment one must take certain

precautions like:-

Follow the prescription and advice as given

by your skin doctor.

Start proper care of your skin

Stop self medication

Erratic food habits should be avoided

DO’S in Acne

• Wash your face three to four times

a day.

• Protect your skin with the

calamine or sun blocks as

prescribed by your skin doctor.

• Eat healthy so that the quality of

skin is good.

• Increase vegetable, fruits, and one

and a half litre milk in any form.

• Drink plenty of water.

Don’ts in Acne

• Avoid Oil, creams, moisturizers on

your face and scalp.

• Avoid thick cream based products

which can clog the oil gland pore.

• Avoid comedogenic based

products.

• Do not squeeze the acne.

In acne treatment its very important to

keep few things in mind.
