We received an overwhelming number of ballots in response to our advertisements asking The Lebanon Democrat and Mt. Juliet News readers to vote for their favorite local businesses. Although this was not a scientific survey, we used a long and careful process to make sure each ballot was counted. The results are listed in this section. Thanks to all of our readers who took time to complete the ballots and return them to the newspaper.

The Demos family opened their first location in Murfreesboro in 1989. Their friendly, fam-

ily atmosphere coupled with four generations of original family recipes distinguish them from their

competitors. Pasta sauces, soups and salad dressings are homemade, steaks are hand-cut, and every

item is cooked to perfection just as your mother and grandmother might have done. Their quality din-

ing experience has served them well—it is no wonder Demos’ has received numerous “Best” awards

including “Best Family Restaurant” “Most Popular” and “Most Romantic” restaurant in numerous

polls.

Family owned and operated, Demos’ consistent high standards in food quality and service

have been unmatched. They serve a variety of steaks, pastas, chicken, and seafood at lunch and din-

ner and their management approach enables them to deliver this variety and quality at an affordable

price. They offer 78 entrees from $6.95-$9.95 and 80% of their lunch entrees are under $7. And you

can enjoy a daily lunch special for $4.25 every Monday-Friday.

Demos’ is located at 130 Legends Drive in Lebanon. Other locations include Murfreesboro,

Nashville, and Hendersonville and Florence, Ala. They are open from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Sunday through Thursday, and from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Friday.

A lot can happen in 25 years, and a lot has changed in Wilson County since 1987. But one thing that’s the same today as it was a quarter century ago is the

philosophy that’s led to success and growth for Wilson Bank & Trust.

A big part of that philosophy is WB&T’s commitment to remaining an independent organization. In today’s market, local banks with sustained success are

often seen as assets waiting to be snatched up by larger institutions, which makes a milestone like a 25th anniversary especially unique for a community-based

bank. For customers, this equates to the comfort of familiarity with a friendly, local staff that is likely to be around long after the next big merger or buyout.

Another aspect of the Wilson Bank & Trust philosophy involves leadership. From the beginning, WB&T has been led and managed by seasoned banking

professionals, starting with its first employee, CEO Randall Clemons. Experience in leadership has helped the bank make good decisions and avoid some pitfalls

that have affected many financial organizations.

Giving back is another key for WB&T. The bank routinely hosts events, supports a variety of causes and stays involved in the community. As a bonus this

The Lebanon Zaxby’s, lo-cated at 638 S. Cumberland St., was recently voted “Best Chicken” and “Best Fast Food” in Wilson County. This is the restaurant’s third commu-nity-elected honor for “Best Chicken” which it first received in July of 2010. The location has re-ceived a total of five awards since opening its doors in Novem-ber of 2004, when it was voted “Best New Restaurant in Wilson County.” Since the time of their opening, brother-and-sister li-censees Lee Oliver and Bonnie Ryan have derived their success from Zaxby’s simple operating phi-losophy and mission statement — consis-tently create encore experiences that en-rich lives one person at a time. “That state-ment is behind ev-erything we do,” said Oliver. “It is the driv-ing force behind the food we prepare and how we treat our guests, our team and our community.” This is apparent in the numerous events and charities in which Zaxby’s continuously partici-pates. Together, the licensees have teamed up with local schools, churches and sports teams to provide food and help raise funds since their

opening. Zaxby’s has also provided continuous support to many local charities including Joseph’s Store-house Food Ministry and Brooks House by donating a percentage of its sales through community-in-volved fundraisers. “We have been

so blessed during these last seven and a half years,” Oliver stated. “Having the community recognize us in this way is very special. It is truly our pleasure to have the opportunity to give back to the community that has been so good to us.”
