Jeongseon Auraji Trackbike Ride in South Korea

Makes use of an abandoned railway track that runs from

Jeongseon Auraji to Gujeol-ri. The total track is 7.2

kilometres long and is a continuous descent that is an easy

pedal. It is set in a lovely Valley with a river and a short

tunnel. There are 2 person (110 kilo) and 4 person (138

kilo) trackbikes. At the boarding area in Gujeol-ri Station,

there is a cafe named ’A Grasshopper’s Dream’ made from

carriage bodies. The most imaginative Railway Catering

Establishment in the world, apart from the Twin Carp. You

return to Gujeol-ri by train for a relaxing view from the

opposite direction. Open all year but the busiest season is

from March to October.

Look it up on the Internet.

Roger Fuller’s

Boatyard Do On the 14 October 2012 in Stone, Staffordshire at Roger’s

Boatyard, his Railway was running and we tried out and

photographed his

2’ gauge Pump Trolley

in action.

It’s Chain driven and much less work than our geared drive

model. It is heavier than our wood machine but a much

smoother run having a flywheel. One of Roger’s Signal boxes

in the background.

13th National Velocipede Rally,

Sunday, 7th July 2013, Froghall

Station, Churnet Valley Railway,

Staffordshire, ST10 2HA.

Velocipedes and Trackbikes are invited to

attend the Rally and operate exclusively

on 1 ¾ miles of track from Froghall to

Oakamoor. This is a day out for machine

owners and carers to meet other like-

minded friends and play with machines.

You come at your own risk and look at the

track and the arrangements and if you

don’t like either you don’t have to play.

You are responsible for your own safety at

all times.

If you wish you can join in the very popular

photo run throughs the platform at

Froghall between service trains.

This event is for hand and foot powered

machines ONLY and is the largest in

Britain.

(Sorry no engine powered machines and no

Pump Cars – see column three)

It’s the best day of the year to find help and

advice with restoration or new build

projects.

13 machines ran at the 2012 Rally and 2

were left on the platform for photographs.

On a wonderful day in the wettest Summer

for years.

Please reply by email

[email protected] Or

Phone 01785 816810 and I can then

sort out free Churnet Valley train tickets

and tea vouchers.

Brilliant Day on the

North Yorkshire Moors Many thanks to the organiser Tammy for the best Rally I’ve been to, she has

set the standard for the rest of us to aim for. I hope she organises another.

Great Photos of the 6 machines attending by Trevor Catterson

The organiser Tammy hard at work.

Permanent way depot ready to Start

The Man in charge

of counting us out and counting us back- in a different order

when Mark was “overtaken”.

The finish 5 miles later

Jacqui Thomas and Teresa Fuller pedalling into Levisham (Jacqui

had swopped seats with Roger with 400 yards to go –the cheat).

Page 6: Best Wishes for Christmas and the thorough service you will be

Mark Egerton looking surprisingly happy having towed his new 2 person machine for miles. The machine is wonderful, weighs very little

and worked for the rest of the day.

Removing the tow rope.

Mark’s new and very carefully planned “Double Deck” trailer.

Mark is a professional design engineer and it shows.

Judith and Bob having done the hardest work of the day. A 5 mile

uphill run on a 100 year old Velocipede is no mean feat. I am in

awe of their stamina.

Page 7: Best Wishes for Christmas and the thorough service you will be

Teresa giving a ride to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s youngest member, (and his dad).

Roger Fuller’s very elegant and minimalist Trailer. Roger has fitted

new steel tyres to the front wheels of his Velorail, making them wider.

Kevin being taped for the evening film show. The Draisine

performed well, until Jacqui fell off on the return trip downhill (her

own fault).

Sean Bowler’s machine, rebuilt as a two seater with reversible

handlebars and seats to save picking the machine up to reverse

direction. A very clever idea.

Caroline planning her presentation speech on Sean’s continually improving machine.

The Crossing Club at Grosmont Was open to us and was great fun, the “Pie and Mash”

takeout we ordered was vast.

The club has a DVD projector and Roger and Teresa Fuller

showed a terrific film of their early days of track biking, on a

two bike conversion called “Colonel Stephens” and the

design and building of their present Velorail and its

adventures on disused lines.

The Presentations Were conducted with great humour by Caroline and mugs

were awarded

The Racehorse Roger Fuller For the fastest run.

The Shirehorse Bob Palmer and Judith For the hardest work of the day on a 100 year old machine.

The Donkey Mark Egerton For his newest machine breaking down and having to be

towed miles by him.

Film taken that day was screened To much hilarity especially the Norwegian Trackbike lifting

itself off the track and turning left on the road crossing at

Grosmont.

Kevin Gould’s original Norwegian trackbike with our

organiser again hard at work.
