HAVE YOU CONSIDERED SPONSORING? Would you like to share your knowledge and enthusi-asm of Bethel with someone new to our church com-munity? Because there are many fun opportunities to grow and serve within Bethel, sometimes new members can be overwhelmed at where to start! You can help by offering to sponsor a new member, couple, or family. This is a short term, no cost commitment and one great bonus is a new friendship with long term advantages! Please email [email protected] or call Juli Hilding at 715.386.8821 ext. 27 for more information, or to sign up.

THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF ELCA WORLD HUNGER Many, many thanks to everyone who contributed money, delicious food and helpful service at the Lenten Supper on April 9th. A wonderful and gener-ous offering of $904.00 was received for ELCA World Hunger. Your gifts to ELCA World Hunger glorify God and are such a great blessing to so many of our neighbors living in poverty who can now give thanks for daily bread, for your prayers, your partnership and your gifts. May the peace of Christ be with you always.

YOUNG AT HEARTS RECYCLING TOUR APRIL 28 Have you ever wondered if the things you put in your recycling bin are actu-ally recycled? The Young at Hearts will have a chance to find out what and how it is done when they tour the Allied Waste Recycling facility in Inver Grove Heights. Lunch at Mallards will follow. The bus will leave the Down-town campus at 9:15 on Monday, April 28th. The cost for the entire trip is $18. Sign up at the Downtown welcome center by April 20th. Payment is also due by that date. If the list is filled, you may sign up on the waiting list in the event of cancellations.

BETHEL HIGHLANDS PRESCHOOL IS HIRING A job opening at BHP is rare, so this is a unique opportunity to join the team at a high quality preschool with an excellent reputation. We are hiring TWO teaching positions at 30 hours a week, and one assistant teacher at 15 hours a week. Candidates must be reliable, professional, experienced, and living in the Christian faith. Please send resume and cover letter to Kari Jo Fore, Bethel Highlands Preschool, 504 Frontage Road, Hudson, WI 54016 or e-mail to [email protected].

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY! The Bethel Saturday Morning Men’s Bible Study offers the opportunity to read the Bible (Old & New Testaments) and relate how the Word helps us to live a Christian life today. We learn the importance of Biblical passages in our daily questions about success, guilt, isolation, love, salvation and the meaning of God’s plan. “The group offers the opportunity for friendship and lively conversations about the Bible and other aspects of life. And it’s fun.” ~ Aethan Hart

THANKS FOR VOLUNTEERING FOR FMSC Many thanks to those who signed up to join the Bethel team going to Feed My Starving Children on Saturday, April 26th! All volunteer spots have been filled for both this Saturday and for June 7th. We have added an-other work date: Friday, May 23rd from 6-8:30 pm. You can sign up online or contact Alan Park. BETHEL HAPPENINGS BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH

APRIL 20, 2014

BETHEL IS GOING TO CAMP THIS SUMMER!!! We will take the church bus to Luther Point in Grantsburg for the week of June 22-27, 2014!

The targeted youth for this week are those who are going into 3rd-9th grade next fall. This summer, campers of all ages are invited to experience “Living In God’ Time” at Luther Point. Together we will explore the different seasons of our lives of faith – Advent, Christ-mas, Lent, Easter, Pentecost – and what these mean for our relationship with Jesus. As we come together this summer, united by the love of Christ, we’ll learn about how to be in tune with God’s time. And of course, we’ll find time to have plenty of FUN! More information and registration details can be found on Luther Point’s website: www.lutherpoint.org or at the welcome center at both campuses. Camp is filling up, so you will want to CHECK IT OUT soon!

BETHEL BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP Join readers to discuss The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker on Wednesday, May 7th from 1-3 pm at Bethel Downtown. All are welcome; the discussions are lively and interesting! SPRING CLEAN-UP DAY AT THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS IS MAY 10TH Roll up your sleeves and join the crew at our annual clean-up day Downtown! Tasks include cleaning, window washing, painting, and outside work. This year we also want to spread and seed a load of black dirt on the north side of the church. Please bring cleaning items (buckets, window cleaning things, etc.), rakes, shovels, and painting supplies and ladders, if you’d like to paint. Work times will be announced in next week’s Bethel Weekly News.

MONDAY FUNDAY COLLEGE-AGED MEETING NIGHT

If you’re 18-25 and looking to meet other Christians

your age, check this out.

We’re starting a new Bible Study!

This is a great time to "jump in." If you have

any questions, please contact either Jaki ([email protected]), the small group leader, or

Pastor Alicia ([email protected]) for more information.

Bible Study at Highlands: 5 pm

Activity: 6 pm

You don’t need to be attend-ing school to come. Please

invite your friends!

The ministry of Vespers is a group of young adults dedicated to knowing

and serving Christ. All are welcome to gather each week in a time centered around the worship of

God through music.
