To say nothing of Bethlehem’s highly kinetic body percussion.” – Stacia Friedman, Chestnut Hill Local ABOUT Bethlehem and Sad Patrick combine her strong, soulful vocals and unique percussion with his sparse, jazz and blues infused playing and nuanced songwriting to create powerful songs of love - good love, bad love, love lost, and love that oughta get lost – and other struggles of life today. Since joining forces in 2011 after meeting at an open mic in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia where they both live, the duo have crafted an extensive body of work based on Bethlehem’s interpretation and embodiment of Sad Patrick’s songs. Their primary goal for 2019 is to tour in the northeast US, spreading their music farther afield. LOVE AND OTHER STRUGGLES Their second full-length work reflects an expansion of themes. It’s equally split between songs of personal love and songs of universal struggles; life as an immigrant in today’s America (Mother of Exiles), playing with the deck stacked against you (The Game), life in the city (Rise), and their updated take on the traditional folk murder ballad in the age of Black Lives Matter (Elegy).
