Tri-Community Adult Education is a Certified Court Reporting School approved by the Court Reporters Board of California and the National Court Reporters Association. In this era of technology, train to be a real-time court reporter in the court and deposition field and related careers. Real-time court reporters can make in excess of $100,000 per year and only a state license is required, not a degree. For related careers, certifications are offered. We offer low-cost public school tuition with both day and evening programs. Our evening program is open to high school students in the 11th and 12th grades. WELDINGCOMBINATION WELDER TRAINING BASIC & CERTIFIEDNote: Fees do not include personal safety equipment, tools or books. 1200 hours to complete.

A vocational training program based upon practical hands-on welding and classroom theory in all welding processes from basic to advanced techniques. The Welding Center is licensed to administer the practical examinations required by the Los Angeles Department of Building & Safety. L.A. City written examination prep classes are also offered with limited enrollment. Continuing students have priority registration. Contact the Welding Center for class placement prior to registration. All phases are applied to all processes included: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW & GTAW for Structural, Lite Gage Steel, Aluminum, Stainless, Reinforcing Steel and High Pressure Vessel Pipe. Limited exotic metals available on request. We are now offering D1.8 Seismic Certification also.

PHASE I - Teaches students basic and advanced techniques with AWS A5.5 F3 filler rod from striking an arc to stringer pass control and weld puddle manipulation. The student will learn welding control in all positions preparing the student for Phase II. Classroom basic weld theory will also be included.

PHASE II - Upon satisfactory completion of Phase I, the student will begin learning basic to advanced welding techniques with AWS A5.5 F4 welding filler rod. The student will learn control of weld stringer passes and puddle manipulation in all positions. Advance blueprint and weld symbol theory.

PHASE III - The student will prepare test plates in which the student will complete in both 3G & 4G positions. Successful completion of the test plates, student will receive a certificate of completion and data sheet and is qualified to take the L.A. City practical examination. Student will be prepared for entry level employment in a variety of metal trade industries.

An enriched nursery school program is offered where both parent and child attend. Parents participate in group discussions concerned with early childhood development. In this new format, you will spend the first few weeks learning how to cut glass, how to copper foil, lead and solder. INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHYClass Fee: $50 Minimum 19 students.

Whether you have been shooting for many years or just starting out, this class will provide a great refresher or a baseline of information to start your photography adventure. This quarter will focus on learning settings, functions and the practical use of your camera. We will also explore photographic composition and lighting with time in studio and the field, shooting and learning practical tips for creating great images. Whether you want to capture images of people, products, or landscapes, this class will get you started on the right foot. A digital camera is required that allows for functions and settings to be changed in manual mode.

This class is great for people who like to keep things moving! Three 20-minute intervals of easy to follow aerobics, step training and body sculpting. You’ll really get a diverse workout experience with this class! Wear tennis shoes/bring yoga mat. All levels.

Adult students who are applying for the High School Diploma Program must bring an official (sealed) transcript and meet with a counselor at the Main Campus. Pre-enrollment for the High School Diploma Program is highly recommended.

ADMISSION Tri-Community Adult Education may admit as regular students only persons who meet the age of compulsory attendance (18 years old in CA). Completion from high school with a diploma or its recognized equivalent, a High School Equivalent (HSE) is required for enrollment in the fulltime welding program and the court reporting program only. Sealed, official transcripts must be provided to complete the registration process. Students must meet all of the admissions requirements to be accepted for a specific program and start date. Upon enrollment, students are required to attend a New Student Orientation in order to familiarize themselves with the campus, as well as the school’s rules and regulations.

FEES Fees for all classes will be charged as noted. All fees are payable at time of registration. Students pay for all supplies, materials, and textbooks. A service fee of $15 will be charged for returned checks, copies of certificates of completion, and letters of verification. There is an automatic processing fee for any change to classes. ALL FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.

REFUND & WITHDRAWAL POLICY We realize that outside circumstances may sometimes impact a student’s ability to complete the program of study. When a student stops attending all of his or her classes, depending on the circumstances, it may be classified as a “withdrawal,” or “dismissal” from the institution. For the purpose of charges assessed and financial aid eligibility listed below, a dismissal will be handled the same as a withdrawal from the Institution. Refer to Student Handbook or website for full Refund & Withdrawal Policy.

TEXTBOOKS Textbooks are available for purchase by students registered in Tri-Community Adult Education classes. Do not purchase textbook before class registers. TEXTBOOK FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

REGISTRATION and ATTENDANCE A minimum number of students must be in attendance for a class to be registered. Excessive absences may cause classes to be closed or combined, or individual students to be dropped.

CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION Certificates of completion are issued to students who satisfactorily complete study in certain academic, business occupations, and vocational subjects.

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA Adults who do not have a high school diploma are urged to meet with a counselor in order to plan a program that suits their needs. For further information, call (626) 974-4200.

MINOR CHILDREN Minor children are NOT allowed in adult education classes except in certain Parent Education classes and childcare.

INSURANCE TRI-COMMUNITY ADULT EDUCATION DOES NOT PROVIDE STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE, nor is it provided for children participating in Parent Education or Child Care activities.

STUDENT RECORDS The release of students’ educational records shall be according to the Education Code and State regulations.

COUNSELING SERVICES All students taking courses for high school credit MUST SEE A TRI-COMMUNITY COUNSELOR BEFORE ATTENDING CLASSES. Students enrolled in a regular high school must have a completed Tri-Community High School Student Referral from their school of residence prior to enrollment. High school students from outside the Covina-Valley District may only enroll in an academic class for credit recovery and will be charged a $250 fee for each 5-credit class. High school students may not enroll in computer classes.

COUNSELING ASSISTANCE Tri-Community Adult Education has a Comprehensive Guidance Program and counselors are available during school hours to assist students to reach their optimum educational goals. They offer assistance with Career Planning and Academic Guidance. A variety of tests allow students to explore their vocational interest, aptitudes, personality, intelligence, educational progress, and work values. TESTING SERVICESCASAS Testing The testing system used at Tri-Community Adult Education for Academic, Adult Secondary Education (ASE), Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) is called Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS). CASAS certifies language and basic skills proficiency and promotes the transition to higher education and workforce. All students in these programs will be administered these tests upon admission.

VOCATIONAL/CAREER TESTING & COUNSELING Interest, ability and career value tests are part of the Tri-Community Adult Education Counseling Services. Individuals interested in vocational testing, career information, job outlooks and requirements, current labor supply and demand, lists of vocational schools, colleges, universities, etc., are encouraged to see a counselor. OFFICIAL GED® TESTING CENTERThe GED® Test is a computer based (not online) test which is available in English and Spanish. The GED® can give you the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma based on current high school graduation standards, and is a key to employment opportunities, job advancement, further education and financial rewards.

The GED® Test consists of four sections: Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA), Mathematical Reasoning, Science and Social Studies. It incorporates the use of technology for today’s digital world.

A fee of $5.00 per child will be charged per day. Child Care is a service available only to children of Tri-Community Adult Education students. BEFORE A CHILD CAN ATTEND CHILD CARE, PROOF OF THE FOLLOWING IMMUNIZATIONS IS REQUIRED: DPT or DT, POLIO, RUBELLA, RUBEOLA, MUMPS, HEPATITIS B, HIB MENINGITIS and VARICELLA. Children must be at least 2 years of age, but not over 5 years of age. All children must be toilet trained. Child Care services shall not be available for children of parents on field trips.

In this era of technology, train to be a real-time court reporter in the court and deposition fi eld and related careers. Real-time court reporters can make in excess of $100,000 per year and only a state license is required, not a degree. For related careers, certifi cations are offered. We offer low-cost public school tuition with both day and evening programs. Our evening program is open to high school students in the 11th and 12th grades. A vocational training program based upon practical hands-on welding and classroom theory. The program is operated on an open-entry, open-exit basis, which allows students to begin training at any time space is available. 2. You must be 18 years of age.3. If enrolling in Court Reporting, you must provide a high school

diploma or equivalent. See the steps to "Jump Start on Financial Aid" below.

4. Meet with an Admissions Counselor and decide if you’d like a Career Interest Test.

2. Take your CASAS Math and English assessment (Day 2).3. Meet with our Academic School Counselor for an Academic Plan. 4. Get your class schedule and head to our Academic Study Center for
