Pasta Making – Delicious and Nutritious

Our Year 3 class was lucky to have a great turnout of parent helpers to make their own fresh pasta under the direction of Signora Minchin. It was a great session and the students really enjoyed making and eating their own delicious pasta. A big thankyou to Luke Day, Monique Wojtkiewicz, Bruce Kilpatrick, Kelly FitzGerald, Linda Lewis, Amanda Farr, Zoe Wilkinson and Ros Mellick for coming along to help on the day. It made the activity even more special for the students.

Footy Colours Day

Thankyou to everyone who supported this day and helped raise $115 to fight cancer. Beverley is awesome!

FOUND – CAR KEYS A set of car keys with a ‘DAD’ name tag and another distinctive tag attached was found on school grounds last week. Please call the school tomorrow if they might be yours – after that they will be surrendered to the police station.

Interschool Athletics Carnival

Our students were fantastic competitors at the CGSISA Interschool Athletics carnival hosted by Pingelly and held at Brookton on 8th September. Thanks very much to the parents who came along and cheered and volunteered as helpers and officials. Special congratulations to our championship winners and runners up: Isabella Mellick, Ella Cook, Lexi Tita, Grace McLean and Olivia Lucas. Lexi Tita and Grace McLean also broke carmival records – what a great effort! York Blue won the Secondary Championship Shield, Beverley won the Secondary Handicap, Brookton won the Primary Championship, and York Blue won the Primary Handicap Shield.

Staff changes at Beverley District High School

School Officer Our school officer Megan commenced maternity leave last week. She and her family look forward to welcoming another Vandenberg very soon. Tracey Fleay will fill the position of School Officer while Megan is on leave. Tracey will often be the first point of contact for parents who phone, email, or visit the school office.

Position Vacant We currently have a permanent part-time vacancy for a gardener / groundsperson at the school. For more information please visit jobs.wa.gov.au or call the school on 9646 1165. Applications close on 6 October. We thank Jethro Sleer for his years of dedication to developing and maintaining the school gardens and grounds and for sharing his passion for environmentally sustainable practices and solutions.

Canteen Fridays only next term Our current volunteer canteen co-ordinator, Monica Van Der Snoek, will be stepping down from the position due to other commitments. While Monica will continue to run the ordering of supplies for next term, she will not be able to man the canteen. We thanks class reps and parent volunteers for filling spots to allow the canteen to continue on Fridays only next term. There is no canteen tomorrow Friday 22nd Sept.

Please contact Monica 0474 105 242 or the school office to express your interest in the co-ordinator’s position or to add your name to the Friday canteen roster. We thank Monica for her dedication and look forward to welcoming a new parent

or community member to the role.

Update from the Chaplain Chris Footer

Catching up with the Chaplain Students who wish to meet with the chaplain one on one for counselling and support require permission from their parents. Please complete the form below to let the school know that you would be happy for your child to meet with the chaplain. Parents will always be informed by email or phone before their child first meets with the chaplain for individual counselling or support.

Emergency Lunches Chaplain Chris has organised emergency lunches for our students. Students who realise at recess time that they have no lunch for that day can report to the school office. They will then have a cheese or a Vegemite sandwich (and sometimes a piece of fruit) waiting for them when the lunch break comes around. Please inform the office if you do not wish for your child to access emergency lunches.
