    Your benefits

    * Cost-effective pumping. The BG pump creates a stableprocess that leads to improved operation of the equipmentupstream of the BG and improves the total output.

    * Energy savings. The BG pump runs smoothly and with highefficiency when there is a gas problem. While other pumpswould not function or have a high energy consumption.

    * Saving chemicals. Large savings can be realised by using aBG pump, because the need for defoamers or other chemi-cals can be significantly reduced.

    * Maintenance savings. BG is part of a Modular System allow-ing for a reduced number of spare parts, simplified serviceand shortened downtimes.

    BG Degassing Centrifugal Pump

ApplicationsBG degassing pumps are used for pumping stock con-sistencies up to 10% and other liquids with gas contentsup to 70%. Ideal for gas handling in the recycled fibreprocess. Applications include foam from flotation cellsand pulper drum pumps.

    Design

Where gas is causing an unstable flow in the process, BGis used to create a steady reliable flow. The BG pump isdesigned to separate gas from the pumped liquid.

The pumps are part of a Modular System, but with aspecial patended impeller, a special casing cover anda seal cartridge of a new design. The pump has all ofthe advantages of a Sulzer namely rugged construction,back-pull out design to simplify service and provide highefficiency.

Vacuum systemThe vacuum pump is a specially adapted liquid ringpump in stainless steel, which is capable of handlingboth water and fibres without damage. Normally, how-ever, there are no fibres in the degassing system.

The vacuum system creates the necessary differentialpressure to make the BG-pump run smoothly.

Other vacuum sources than a vacuum pump mightalso be used.

    Functioning

All pumps are equipped with semi-open impellers. Theseimpellers have back vanes and special passages thatmake it possible for the gas to escape behind the impel-

ler. The gas separated in the pump is transferred throughthe seal cartridge and is then returned to the storagetank, through the vacuum pump, via a pipe above thelevel of the liquid.
