• The 5 areas of BGreen are in the St Mary’s and Coldhurst wards• These are 2 of the most deprived wards in the borough• 41.2% of adults in St Mary’s and 42.7% of adults in Coldhurst have

no formal qualifications• Coldhurst has lowest male life expectancy in the borough (70.1

years) and St Mary’s the 3rd lowest (73.5 years)• Shaw Road, on the edge of the BGreen area, is the 2nd most

deprived area in the country

BGreen: Investment Overview

• £10m ECO scheme – new biomass boiler and external wall insulation

• £11m Investment in properties and environmental works

• Will affect approximately 2400 residents in central Oldham

• Two Strands: ‘Your Home’ and ‘Your Life’

• 1400 homes - New biomass boiler

• 600 homes - External wall insulation

• FCHO Improvement Programme – kitchens, bathrooms, electrical works, external works, communal stairwells, environmental works

• Will change the look of the area – new external finishes, railings, balconies, roof works, windows and doors

• St Marys is a Public Sector Reform pilot (only 2 place based pilots across GM)

• Actions from CIP linked to Asset Modelling and Neighbourhood Plans• Developing a single communications strategy for the BGreen area• Created a Customer Advisory Panel

• FCHO has allocated 5 dedicated NOs, enhanced the caretaking service, and assigned additional staff to support the project which is an additional cost of £640,000 plus a further £100,000 kick start fund for the project
