Intended use

This appliance is intended for domestic use only. This appliance isintended for use up to a maximum height of 2000 metres above sealevel. Only use this vacuum cleaner in accordance with the instruc-tions in this instruction manual.

In order to prevent injuries and damage, the vacuum cleanermust not be used for:

Vacuum-cleaning persons or animals Vacuuming up: - hazardous, sharp-edged, hot or glowing substances.- damp or liquid substances. - highly flammable or explosive substances and gases. - ash, soot from tiled stoves and central heating systems. - toner dust from printers and copiers.

Spare parts, accessories, dust bags

Our original spare parts, original (special) accessories andoriginal dust bags are designed to work with the features andrequirements of our vacuum cleaners. We therefore recom-mend that you only use our original spare parts, original (spe-cial) accessories and original dust bags. This will ensure thatyour vacuum cleaner has a long service life and that the qualityof its cleaning performance will remain consistently highthroughout.

This vacuum cleaner complies with the recognised rules oftechnology and the relevant safety regulations.

The appliance may be used by children over the age of 8 yearsand by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mentalcapacity or by persons with a lack of experience or knowledgeif they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe useof the appliance and the have understood the potentialdangers of using the appliance. Children must never play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must never be carried out bychildren without supervision. Plastic bags and films must be kept out of the reach ofchildren before disposal.=> Risk of suffocation.

Proper use

Only connect and use the vacuum cleaner in accordance withthe specifications on the rating plate. Never vacuum without the dust bag or dust container, motorprotection or exhaust filter. => This may damage the vacuum cleaner. Do not vacuum close to the head when using a nozzle andtube. => This could cause injury! When vacuuming stairs, the appliance must always bepositioned below the user.

Do not use the power cord or the hose to carry or transportthe vacuum cleaner. For safety reasons, if this appliance's mains power cablebecomes damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer,their after-sales service department or a similarlyqualifiedperson.Fully extend the power cord when using the vacuum cleanercontinuously for several hours. When disconnecting the appliance from the mains, pull on theplug itself to remove it; do not pull on the power cord.Do not pull the power cord over sharp edges or allow it to be-come trapped. When the cable is being automatically rewound, ensure thatthe mains plug is not thrown towards persons, body parts,animals or objects. => Use the mains plug to guide the power cord.Pull out the mains plug before carrying out any work on thevacuum cleaner.Do not operate the vacuum cleaner if it is damaged. Unplugthe appliance from the mains if a fault is detected.For safety reasons, only authorised after-sales servicepersonnel are permitted to carry out repairs and fitreplacement parts to the vacuum cleaner.Protect the vacuum cleaner from the weather, moisture andsources of heat. The mains socket must be protected by at least a 16 amp cir-cuit breaker.If a circuit breaker is tripped when you switch on the vacuumcleaner, this may be because other electrical appliances whichhave a high current draw are connected to the same power cir-cuit. To prevent the circuit breaker from tripping, select the lowestpower setting before switching the appliance on, and increasethe power only once it is running.

Switch off the appliance when it is not in use. At the end of its life, the appliance should immediately berendered unusable, then disposed of in an appropriatemanner.

Emptying the dust container

Figure In order to achieve good vacuu-ming results, the dust containershould be emptied after every useor, at the latest, when dust or dirthas visibly collected on the flufffilter or when dust at one point inthe container has reached theheight of the marking.

When emptying the dust contai-ner, always check how dirty thefluff filter is and, if necessary,clean it as detailed in the"Cleaning the fluff filter" instruc-tions. Figure

Figure The dust container must be emp-tied at the latest by the time thedust bag change indicator lightsup permanently in red and theappliance automatically switchesitself to the lowest power setting.

Filter care

Cleaning the plate filterThis function constantly monitorswhether your vacuum cleaner isreaching its optimum power level.The indicator light lets you knowwhen you need to clean the platefilter, so that the vacuum cleanercan reach its optimum power levelonce more.

„SelfClean“-function

Figure The indicator lights up blue whenthe appliance is working at itsoptimum level. Once the indicatorturns red and flashes, the applian-ce switches off automaticallyFilter cleaning is activated andperformed by the integrated clea-ning motor.

Filter care

If the appliance cleans three timesin quick succession, this is proba-bly due to a dirty fluff filter or ablockage.In this case, the appliance auto-matically adjusts to the lowestpower setting and the indicatorlights up red.●Switch the appliance off, emptythe dust container and clean thefluff filter according to theinstructions in "Cleaning the flufffilter". Figure

Activating the “SelfClean”-function

Figure If required, you can also activatethe cleaning procedure manuallyby pressing the "Clean" filter clea-ning button when the appliance isswitched on.If suction power is reducing, youcan also clean the filter even if theindicator has not lit up. We recom-mend that you clean the plate fil-ter each time before emptying thedust container.

25 Cleaning the fluff filterThe fluff filter should be cleanedat regular intervals in order toensure optimum operation of thevacuum cleaner.Figure ●Open the appliance lid andremove the dust container fromthe appliance. Figure

● Take the filter unit out of thedust container.● It is usually sufficient to lightlyshake or tap out the whole filterunit when the dust container isemptied in order to dislodge anyparticles of dirt.● If this is not sufficient, you canuse a dry cloth to remove dirtparticles from the fluff filter.

Always switch off the vacuum cleaner and disconnect the powercord from the mains before cleaning the vacuum cleaner. Thevacuum cleaner and plastic accessories can be cleaned with anordinary plastic cleaner.

Disposal information

PackagingThe packaging is designed to protect the vacuum cleaner from beingdamaged during transportation. It is made of environmentally friendlymaterials and can therefore be recycled.Dispose of packaging that is no longer required at an appropriaterecycling point.
