Burnt Hills Rowing Association Fall 2017 PO Box 248, Burnt Hills, NY 12027 www.bhrow.com Thank you for your interest in youth rowing at Burnt Hills Rowing Association (BHRA). Our fall season starts the last week of August for high school athletes and the Monday after school begins for middle school athletes. This entire season is completed on the water and sees a variety of seasonal changes. Our coaches will focus on technique and endurance with our athletes, preparing them for timed races, also known as head races.
Our Fall season includes the Mohawk Fall Classic Regatta! BHRA hosts a regatta out of Jumpin’ Jacks Drive In the first full weekend of October. This is an all hands on deck event and we’ll be in touch early in the season to secure roles in running the race.
In this packet we have included the following:
• Important details before you register (pg 1)
• Fall practice and racing schedule (pg 3)
• Registration instructions (pg 4)
A few important details before you register:
Early registration discount! Register for the fall season by August 14th and receive a $50 discount!
• Registration fees include seasonal dues, a membership/equipment fee, and a food tent fee. Dues cover coaching, boathouse and equipment maintenance, gas for coaching launches, local race fees, etc. They do not cover travel races, equipment purchases, or uniforms/clothing.
o Registration fees that you will see on Regatta Central are as follows:
§ $660 first high school athlete from each family.
• $545 dues, $75 membership/equipment fee, $40 food tent fee.
§ $560 middle school athletes and second/additional high school athlete from each family.
• $445 dues, $75 membership/equipment fee, $40 food tent fee.
o A membership/equipment fee was instituted in 2016 in lieu of mandatory fundraising activities. The fee for Fall 2017 is $75. This money will be used for equipment purchases (boats, oars, launches, motors, docks, etc.).
o A $40 food tent fee was also instituted in 2016. Instead of the athletes needing to purchase and bring food items to each of the races this allows our food tent coordinators to buy ahead and get creative with healthy choices for race day.
• Transportation to the boathouse is offered through an option of a 'crew shuttle' in the Fall for an additional fee of $50. The crew shuttle consists of parent volunteers that transport the athletes from the high school and middle school. The option to sign up for crew shuttle is available in the Regatta Central registration as well as volunteer to help drive. Please sign up by August 14th.
