“IL MACARON ITALIANO”

Il nome macaron deriva dalla parola italiana maccarone o maccherone, derivata a sua volta dal verbo ammaccare, ossia pestare o schiacciare. La leggenda narra che i macarons siano nati a Venezia nel XVI secolo e che siano stati poi importati in Francia nel 1533 da Caterina de Medici, come dolce di corte

per il suo matrimonio con il Duca d’Orlèans.

Partendo dalle basi di antiche ricette, la collezione di «Macaron Santabona», si sviluppa attraverso l’uso di materia prima nostrana come la mandorla d’Avola raffinata, che racchiude in sé tutto il gusto segreto e il sapore tradizionale di quel lembo di terra bagnato dal sole nella Sicilia Sud-Orientale,

dove viene coltivata da secoli.

The name "Macaron" descends from the Italian word maccarone or maccherone which comes from the italian verb "ammaccare" that means to pound or to beat. The legend tells macarons were born in Venice in the sixteenth century and then they were imported to France in 1553 by Caterina de' Medici as

a court sweet for her marriage to Duke of Orleans.

Starting from the basis of ancient recipes, the collection of “Macarons Santabona” develops through the use of local raw material such as the refined almond from Avola: it holds the whole secret taste and the traditional flavour of the south west Sicilian land, bathed in sunlight,

where it has been cultivated over the centuries.
