BID DAYWednesday, August 24, 2011 Advertorial supplement to The Crimson White2BA note from the
Director of RecruitmentI’m so excited to be a part of one of the largest recruitments in the na-tion. The Alabama Panhellenic Association worked extremely hard on the preparation and execution of recruitment week. I’m very proud of everyone on the Panhellenic Executive Council as well as our Greek Affairs staff.
This year is particularly special because we are welcoming Delta Gamma to our campus. It is such a great time to be Greek at UA be-cause our community is continuing to grow.
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to have helped plan recruitment for more than 1700 women and to welcome them to our Greek community.

Flower: Red and Buff Roses
Colors: Scarlet Red, Buff and Green
Mascot: Squirrel
Philanthropy: Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation (Diabetes)
Message from the Recruitment Chair:
We are very proud that our members are involved in so many organizations on campus and of their focus on scholastic achievement. I’m so proud of our house for remaining genuine and close despite the large number of members. We are also proud of our senior retention because it shows everyone wants to remain an active member of the sorority for all four years!
We have set goals this year to remain top in grades, remain true to ourselves and have the best year Alpha Gam has seen yet.
Message from the Recruitment Chair:
Many people do not realize that recruitment is a year long process. You start the day after formal fall recruitment and do not stop until bid day. It is a constant process that takes a lot of work and planning. There is no room for procrastination when it comes to recruitment.
As a freshman, I was most surprised about how difficult it was to make a decision going through recruitment. Many people come through with preconceived notions, but that really all goes out the window when you hear to first door song. The hardest day was probably skit day, because I had to go from seven houses to three houses. It felt like I was not given enough time to choose!

Alpha Chi Omega women are involved in every aspect on campus from SGA, honor societies, Capstone Men & Women, ambassadors for various colleges, philanthropic organizations to campus ministries and everything in between. We pride ourselves on being a sorority that encourages and provides opportunities for our members to be involved here at the Capstone.
Message from the President:
What makes you most proud about your chapter? The women of our chapter are incredibly hard working and dedicated to the principles of our sisterhood. We have a diverse group of girls, but we enjoy spending time together. Although we are diverse, we are a very tight group of women and we are supportive of each other. How is your chapter involved on campus? We have members in multiple honor societies on campus, including Order of Omega and Cardinal Key. Our members are leaders on campus. For example, we have SGA senators, Capstone Women, and a Crimsonette. We take pride in not only be-ing involved in our chapter, but in our campus community.

Message from the Recruitment Chair:
While it’s a lot of work, recruitment provides a great opportunity to get closer with your sisters as we all work together towards one common goal.
It was surprising how many people I actually knew in the houses. Throughout the recruitment process I saw a lot of familiar faces from previous spring events which allowed such an overwhelming process to have a truly personal feel.
I think the coolest part of serving as the Alpha Phi Director of Recruitment is that I’m essentially given the opportunity to work with my chapter to mold Alpha Phi into the best chapter we can be while recruiting members that will be the future of our chapter.
Message from the Recruitment Chair:
One thing most people don’t realize about preparing for recruitment is all the behind the scenes work that is done. Hours and hours are spent working to make sure every-thing runs smoothly.
Being from Florida, I was un-aware how many girls partici-pated in recruitment and how big of deal it was. Needless to say I was very surprised on the first day of recruitment!
I enjoy serving as recruitment chair for my sorority because I know how important recruit-ment is for the future of my house. I have really enjoyed planning events and learning how to handle all the many details that go into making recruitment successful.

Our chapter has grown so much over the past several years, and I’m proud to see how we have strengthened our ties as sisters throughout that process.
Our members are involved on campus in activities such as the University’s Athletic Hostesses, Avanti, and various honor societies and missions.
Our chapter is currently focusing on becoming more involved in campus life. Our goal is to reach out to the University and the Greek Community through fellowship and philanthropy.
Message from the Recruitment Chair:
What is one thing most people don’t realize about preparing for recruitment? That although it is a fun experience it is very stress-ful. Also if they participate in formal recruitment, and do not succeed it doesnt mean that its over. Woman who have been dropped or dropped out or rush should realize that they have other choices. I think it is important for the woman to know if they are not immedi-ately accepted into a sorority that participates in formal rush, they have other oppor-tunities in September which this year include Sigma Delta Tau, Delta Gamma, and Alpha Delta Chi.

A note from the Alabama Panhellenic Association This year, the Alabama Panhellenic Association welcomed 1,746 women to our campus to participate in Sorority Formal Recruitment. Not only is this the largest recruitment we’ve experienced here at the University of Alabama, but it was the largest recruitment in the nation. The numbers alone speak volumes about the strength and appeal of our Greek community.
Our 18 sororities consistently produce strong women who are leaders on this campus, and leaders in the professional world as well. We are so excited that Delta Gamma is colonizing at the University of Alabama this year, and know their chapter will enjoy much success. We have broken ground on four new, beautiful sorority houses that will be ready either in Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 as our Greek community continues to grow and flourish along with the University.
We wish everyone the best of luck, and look forward to a great year!
Ashley Getwan Panhellenic President
