INTRODUCTION

MIAMI, FLORIDA

SUN LIFE STADIUM

PROPOSAL

i. Media/Sponsors

a. Television Coverage ENGLISH

i. Every match played during the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2017 will have a full TV

partnership with Fox’s Sports 1 (FS1). FS1 will own the video rights of live

matches and replays. FS1 would also have the rights to run a live update/preview

show based around the tournament. Signage and advertising of TV stations

during the tournament will be given to FS1 and Univision. FS1 will only be

allowed to play their coverage in English. CONCACAF will be allowed to take

video from this tournament and post on their main website and use the

tournament information for any purpose they feel necessary for the typical

business practice.

b. Television Coverage SPANISH

i. The same rights and responsibilities that apply to FS1 will apply to Univision

Deportes Network. Univision will only have the rights of live video and replay of

this tournament in Spanish.

c. Sponsorship

i. CONCACAF will be given the right to put any signage or advertisement’s up in the

stadium, city, nation, or world in which represents Miami as the host city for this

tournament. For the time being of this tournament CONCACAF may bring

current sponsorship deals into Sun Life Stadium and represent CONCACAF.

CONCACAF may not however use the sponsorships, in which Sun Life does not

have a deal with, to represent the stadium or the teams affiliated with the

stadium.

ii. This event clothing sponsorship deal will be with Nike. Each national team is free

to be represented by preexisting clothing sponsorship deals, but clothing by

which is sold with CONCACAF, Gold Cup, or any representation of this

tournament must be officially licensed by Nike. Nike will have the rights to sell

soccer related merchandise anywhere on the grounds of Sun Life Stadium. Nike

will also be given the right to use the CONCACAF logo, Gold Cup logo, or any logo

representing this tournament for advertisement and signage. CONCACAF

employees will be given Nike apparel and shoes in which they must wear during

any CONCACAF event or press conference, unless professional wear is necessary.

This sponsorship will start in January 2017 and will lead up to the final match of

the tournament.

iii. Gatorade will be the full sports performance drink sponsor. All national teams

PROPOSAL

signage, advertisements, and drinks will represent CONCACAF Gold Cup. These

rights will start in January 2017 and lead up to the final match of the

tournament.

ii. Building

a. The regularly planned upgrade of Sun Life Stadium will go as scheduled. The

additional upgrade in which will create two more locker-rooms, soccer offices,

tunnel leading from locker-rooms to field, a Miami FC team store, and new training

grounds, will be extended to 2017. After the main addition’s will be finished off to

create shade for over 90% of the stadium, these new facilities will make Sun Life

Stadium a hot spot for major sporting events outside of just American football. This

plan will also give Miami the opportunity to have the state of Florida’s second MLS

team. MLS is one of the fastest growing leagues in the world as it has expanded to

9 new teams sense 2007, and has an average attendance in which rivals the NHL

and NBA. (INC.com)

b. While looking into the expansion of the locker-rooms, offices, tunnel, and team

store, our organization must have building permits from the city. Miami will have

contracts with Sun Life Stadium over the next 20 years to stay in Sun Life Stadium.

Contacts must be made between the Stadium and a construction company. All of

the expansions to Sun Life must meet building codes such as the National Fire

Protection Agency (NFPA). The restructuring of the seats for the tunnel must take

into consider the possible risks of fans who will be sitting around this section and

more railing might be needed to put in. We must also have adequate facilities for

the athletes as to prevent them from injury and create a high class standard to

represent the city of Miami, Sun Life Stadium, and Miami FC.

c. Our final section of building in which we may have legal issues will be the creation

of training grounds/facilities. A big indicator for a successful soccer club is to have a

great youth program; our goal for Miami FC is to include the local high school,

middle school, and elementary students in our new expansion. To do this though

Miami FC must build state of the art training grounds. These facility’s will include

multiple turf and grass soccer fields, full work out facility, athletic training rooms,

four locker rooms, concession stands, and lounge area. These fantastic training

grounds will be right next door to Sun Life Stadium, and will be available for

national teams to practice during/before the CONCACAF Gold Cup. In the case that

houses must be cleared to create room for this land we will be given the legal

obligation to relocate these families into a location that is equal or greater of value

to what their current living situation is. Building permits will be obtained and the

best construction crew will be hired for this task. As stated earlier this facility will

PROPOSAL

not only benefit the CONCACAF Gold Cup or Miami FC but it will help the

surrounding community and the future of soccer in Miami.

iii. Security

a. Stadium representatives will be security CONCACAF does not need to provide

security. For the reason of the severity of the tournament and the intensity of the

game there will be an increase of security in and around the stadium. Each person

entering the stadium will be scanned by a metal detector and checked by an usher.

Every bag, hood, and hat will be checked before entering the stadium. No weapons,

sharp objects, or anything that can be viewed harmful will be let into the stadium.

Local police will be on standby in and around the stadium in case of a tragic event.

b. Security and police will be in attendance at any event hosted CONCACAF. For watch

parties hosted outside the stadium, any soccer clinic, or any other event CONCACAF

and fans will be under protection by both security officers and the local police.

Events that offer alcoholic beverages will have an increase in security.

iv. Risk Management

a. In the case of an accident leading to an injury CONCACAF will not be at fault unless

they have negligently acted on their standard of care. Signage will be put up around

and throughout the stadium of potential risks and fans will be read a risk

announcement before the start of the match. In any event hosted by CONCACAF a

waiver will be sent to the fans involved (ticket confirmation). In the event of fans

participating in a clinic they will be presented with a waiver form claiming

knowledge of potential injuries. Security will be put throughout the stadium to stop

any potential fights or riots. Sun Life Stadium staff members will be working

diligently to keep any potential risks of the stadium at a minimum.

b. Evacuation protocol will be presented to fans as they enter the stadium and they

will be shown images/video of what to do for certain situations on the big screens.

There will also be signage and a link to a more compressive evacuation plan. In the

case of a hurricane or any other severe weather the game maybe postponed to a

later date.

v. Funds

a. To fully fund this project no tax payer’s money will be taken to fulfill the financial

needs. All aspects of this project will be privately funded.

Q & A

Q: What happens in the event that funds for this project are not meet by the private donors? A: Miami FC would tap into their current finical situation to fulfil the missing funds. If that was not enough money still Sun Life Stadium would fund the rest of the project Q: What happens for some reason if this project does not finish in time for the CONCACAF Gold Cup to happen? Q: In the situation of a riot during this event of major fight between fans what will happen? A: Security guards will be the first to act to the situation, they will be in positions and have knowledge of ways to minimize the size of the riot or even stop a fight before it happens or gets too big. If a riot were to break out a large amount of local police officers will be in a close proximity to the stadium with some in the stadium already, to minimize the riot instantly. Q: Due to recent situations what will be the precautions of safety around the stadium and what will be the safety precautions be for anyone coming into the stadium? What will you do to minimize the risk of a terrorist attack? A: The stadium will have local police officers and security working the premises to make sure no one can infiltrate the stadium from anywhere other than the entrances. At the entrances each person will be scanned by a metal director, frisked by a security officer, and all hats, bags, hoods will be searched. If a person is found to be in position of a questionable item this person will be removed from being around any big group of people and will be questions/searched.
