Derived from the word ‘Bidru’, the name of the district has been based on thebamboo clusters that have grown here in the past. Bidar is known for itsarchaeological heritage, mainly in the district capital. The district in itself is hometo 61 monuments, out of which 31 are located in and around Bidar City, earning itthe name of “The City of Whispering Monuments”.
