Miss Ceylinco VIP beauty contest that gave participants from all over the island a unique platform to display their talents was won by Tharuka Wanniarachchi who represented the Western Province. Asanki De Silva was cho-sen as the First Runner up and Rukshani Subasinghe emerged as the Second Runner up.

The grand finale of Miss Ceylinco VIP Beau-ty Pageant was a gala event and saw the first ever “Miss Ceylinco VIP” walk the ramp. The pageant was unique as it was held in all seven provinces and involved over 1,100 applicants who were auditioned and selected on criteria ranging from beauty and confidence to inde-pendence and graciousness.

Three contestants were selected from each mini pageant held in the provinces and repre-sented their respective provinces at the Grand Finale.

This was the first time that a beauty contest was held out of Colombo on a large scale and taken to the provinces. Miss Ceylinco VIP gave the talented young women a wide plat-form to showcases their talents and enabled them to participate in a world class event whilst embarking on a voyage of personal development which also gave them the oppor-tunity to involve their families and communi-ties in their localities.

Tharaka Wanniarachchi whose outstanding talent won her the crown, plans to develop her career goals of being a model and an actress further and engage in activities that reinforce her title as the first ever Miss Ceylinco VIP.

Krishan Perera of the famous Doctor Band married Sachini Wickremage last Friday (January 26), at St Lucia’s Cathedral, Kota-hena.

The Groomsmen were Lanthra Perera and Kushal Abeywickrema and the Bestman was Ruwantha Perera. The Maid of Honour was Rochelle Samaranayake and the Brides-maids were Krishni Perera and Bhagya Wick-remage. The Flower Girl was Amara de Mel.

The singing at the Wedding Mass was orchestrated by Voice Print.

A fabulous reception followed at the Park Street Stables with leading bands and many popular artistes entertaining the invitees in grand style till dawn and the couple flew to Bangkok for their honeymoon.

Every girl dreams of her big day to be special like a fairy tale and I was one of them.

It was a great challenge for us to co-ordinate our wedding stay-ing away from our country so we decided to share our burden with a wedding planner :-)
