On June 12, 2016, we had the BGH Annual Pic- nic. It was a beautiful summer day, maybe a little hot, but beautiful anyway. We had almost 60 members and guests in attendance. There were a number of youngsters enjoying the food, sun- shine and fun of an old fashion picnic with par- ents, grandparents and friends. We had silver dollar bingo and dollar trap shooting along with hillbilly golf and a number of water gun fights. Thanks to the Entertainment Committee and the Home site Committee for a great job of putting the event together. Special thanks to Charlie Mateker, Jim Mraz, Charlie Ruggeri, Rich and Janet Franke, Mike Mraz, Jill Erlinger, Barb Seevers, Sue Mateker and Sharon Howell for working so hard that day so everyone could have fun. Put the evening of July 13, 2016, on your calendar for the BGH Fish Fry and Sausage Feast. Greg Whelchel and the Entertainment Committee tell me they have plenty fish and sausage for this year’s feast but you ought to make your reservations early as this is one of our most attended events. Our beautiful air conditioned clubhouse sure makes it pleasant inside even if the weather outside is not. Then on August 14, 2016, our Annual Target Shoot takes place at the home site. The Target Shoot Committee tells me there will be some fun changes this year with improvements to rifle, archery and the shotgun events to make them more realistic to hunting. More information will be available later. The Iron Man Event was added a number of years ago to hopefully make the event more like hunting would be by using only one gun for the three hi power rifle events. By practicing for the match we will improve our skills, technics and equipment. There’s a lot of new equipment, (bows, crossbows, rifles, scopes, shotguns and bullets) out there to help us with our favorite sport. By practicing we improve our skills and perhaps discover a Berger, Nosler, Sierra, Barnes or Hornady ELD-X bullet is a tack driver out of your rifle. Maybe a Leupold CDS or a Nikon BDC helps you at 50, 100 or 200 yards at the target shoot and may also help you kill that once in a life time trophy at 375 yards this fall. Practice, practice, practice!!! That’s what makes you good at anything, not the equipment. Hope to see you there. Camp Notes July 2016 BIG GAME HUNTERS NEWSLETTER Donald L. BGH Trophy Room Tours!

As you may be aware, we are investigating the possibility of doing a member

|trophy room tour. The first step is to put together a list of trophy rooms. Once

that has been done we can determine the best way to pull this off. It may be that

some trophy rooms are located where it isn’t practical to include them on a driv-

ing tour. For that reason we are also considering a video tour of some trophy

rooms that would be presented at one of our meetings. There may also be

members that prefer to be included in just the video tour; that’s OK.

Please let John Gibbs know if you have a trophy room that you would like to

share with the club. In many cases you may not have an actual trophy room but trophies all over your home; that’s OK. Let John

know if you are willing to be on the driving tour, or if you would prefer the video tour. Once a list of trophy rooms is compiled we

will be in contact with you to discuss our plan.

This is going to take a while to put together and we don’t want to do it during hunting season for obvious reasons; so we probably will be looking at a date early next year. Please call or email John Gibbs (314-277-8448) ([email protected]) and let him know if you would like your trophy room included. Thanks for your help!
