BIG LEAGUE BACKGROUNDLaunched as The Rugby League News in 1920, it was “a journal devoted to the interests of Rugby League Football, and containing the only authorised list of Names, Numbers, Colours and Positions of Players”In 1974, The Rugby League News was rebranded Big League and remains the longest established Rugby League Publication in Australia.Big League Magazine is the Official Publication of the NRL and is sold nationally at Newsagents, Woolworths, Coles, BIG W, and other selected retail outlets.Big League is the only Rugby league Publication sold at all NRL games each weekend, including the Finals Series, State of Origin and Test match fixtures. Copies are also distributed to Stadium Corporate, VIP and media areas, plus Rugby League and Sport commentators. Big League readers can now purchase their digital copy from their home computer, iPad or Android tablet.

FILE REQUIREMENTS/GUIDELINES• Files must be compliant to the Australian Standard 3DAPv3 Papertype-3_F45 separation profile.• Acrobat Distiller 6 or above is preferred.• Files to be created in PDF version 1.3 or 1.4 and supplied as single pages.• All files must be saved in CMYK format. RGB, LAB or spot colours will be rejected.• Fonts must be embedded into the PDF file.• All advertising material to include a minimum of 5mm bleed (where required).• Crop, bleed and registration marks plus page information to appear on all advertising material, offset by a minimum of

8mm.• No text or important page content should appear within 10mm either side of the spine on double page spreads (total

20mm).• We recommend using double imaging on double page spreads. Allow 3mm either side of the spine, which is to be included

within the trim not additional to the trim. • The total ink limit should be between 280% - 310% with a black limit of 90% (medium GCR). • 4 colour black and white images should use UCR.• No type is to be smaller than 8 points. • Coloured type with a black drop shadow should be set to knockout, otherwise the black drop shadow may overprint the

coloured type.• All reverse type to be no less than 10 points bold or made up of more than two colours.• Black type smaller than 24 points to be made up of 100% black only and set to overprint.• To ensure a rich black, type larger than 24 points and solid black panels should contain 40% cyan behind 100% black.• For white reverse type we recommend 12 points bold as the minimum size.• White type/elements to be set to knockout.• Extremely thin and fine type, particularly type with serifs, should be avoided.• Thin lines and box rules should be reproduced in one colour, to help with registration and clarity and with a minimum

thickness of 0.25mm.

• It is recommended that solid borders and key lines are supplied no less than 8mm in from the trim, due to the trim and binding variance.

• Images should be saved as PSD or composite EPS files and supplied at 100% scaling, 300dpi and using 3DAPv3 Papertype-3 F45 separation profile.
