Welcome to BI Norwegian Business School’s international case competition! BI

International Case Competition (BIICC) is organised and funded by the school’s

Bachelor Administration with help from BI’s Careers Services, International Office

and the Marketing Department, the Student Union (SBIO), our partners and

professors from various departments. BIICC also relies heavily on students working

voluntary throughout the week.

BIICC’s motto is collaboration. We believe that the word collaboration summarize

the different areas of a case competition. Collaborating with your team to find the

best solution. Collaboration across borders, cultures and languages.

Most importantly: Collaboration with fellow opponents to ensure that BIICC 2017

becomes a lifetime experience!

We want you to look back at your time in Norway with a smile. Our goal is to leave

you with a bunch of new friends, business contacts and experiences. Through the

six-day period, you will meet students from nine different countries.

We hope you are excited – we sure are!

FORMAT AND RULES

BIICC aims to provide a fun learning experience for its participants. In order for the case

competition to be successful, a set of rules and regulations must be adhered to by all teams

and their advisors. Fair play is an essential criterion in the case competition. All participants

are expected to treat each other with respect. If the rules are unclear, then please consult

the Case Director of BIICC, Svein Lund. Any disputes with regard to the rules will be decided

by the director, assisted by the team advisors

The Warm Up Case

1. The main goal for the Warm Up Case is a learning experience for the competing

teams. All the teams will be allowed to watch the other teams present, and thereby

will be able to pick up ideas for the main case competition.

2. The case will be sent to the teams on the 25th of January. The deadline for

submitting solutions (a Power Point presentation and an executive summary) to the

BIICC committee is at 23:59 on the 8th of February. Advisors or other non-team

people are not allowed to assist the teams in solving the case.

3. A draw will determine the order in which the teams present. Teams will be allowed 8

minutes to present, followed by a 7 minutes Q&A session.

4. The winner of the Warm Up Case will be announced at the award dinner.

The Main Case

Case competition structure

1. The competition consists of 12 teams. Each team must decide on a name for their

team. The name must be neutral and give no indication as to which school or country

the team represents. The teams will be divided into three streams. A draw will

determine which stream the teams will compete in and the order of presenting in

each stream.

2. Teams will be allowed 15 minutes to present, followed by a 15 minutes Q&A session.

No teams will be allowed to watch other teams present. The advisors will be allowed

to watch any of the presenting teams.

3. The best team from each stream will compete in the final. The teams that did not

make the final are allowed to watch the final. The finalist teams will not be allowed

to make any changes to their presentation before the finals.

4. In the final, the teams will be allowed 15 minutes to present, followed by a 15

minutes Q&A session. The winners and runners up will be announced after the finals.
