Each NATO nation is responsible for its own language…

BILC can and does make recommendations…

Varying testing methods and different interpretations of STANAG 6001 do cause differences in SLP certificates.

Spain passed through a BAT in 2009…

As a result, Spain changed all of our testing regulations, and issued the Defense Ministerial Order 64/2010, in accordance with BILC’s recommendations.

L3-Professional Level: high level of proficiency. Our target (realistic and very demanding) 50% of officers.

L4- Expert Level. It is impossible to reach in classroom, needs lengthy immersion courses living abroad, and even then, most people never do.

Standard Language Profiles (SLPs) of many job descriptions need to be updated.

Survey on language requirements in the IMS September 2012: 60% of IMS posts require 4444, and another 12% require 4343, and only 28% require 3333, the professional level.

We know that Language Needs Analysis (LNAs) of positions have started, but would be informative…
