• Goal is to develop student skills in Technology Literacy– Technology Literacy: Use appropriate technology to

support the process of critical and analytical pursuits.– Objectives:

• I. Understand the use of technological tools appropriate to a discipline.

• II. Identify and select appropriate technology tools to facilitate learning

• III. Use technological tools effectively and responsibly.

• Overall requirement:– Working singly or in pairs, develop a small

PowerPoint Presentation.– Presentation will be submitted electronically,

you don’t have to present it!– Must discuss a single plant or animal disease

involving one or more of the systems discussed in class.

• How is system affected?

• What is the causal agent of the disease?– Is it genetic?– Is it caused by a pathogenic organism? If so, what?– Is the disease process influenced or aggravated by an

environmental component?

– 2- Evaluation of Information Source List. What electronic literature search tools (e.g. BIOSIS, MEDLINE, AGRICOLA, Web Search engines) you employed to find your resources.

– If you use more than two sources, you need to complete this assessment for only two.

– Describe each source and be sure to label the source as a primary source (original journal article), an Internet source, or other category (e.g. textbook).

• To determine how credible an Internet source is, you might want to consider:

trying to sell you something?

• f. Who is responsible for the site? Is there any editorial control?

• Most biological journals follow formats described by the Council of Biological Editors (CBE) in the CBE Style Manual. Citation examples are provided in Name-Year format. Bibliography items are listed alphabetically at the end of the research paper. These items are referred to in the body of the paper using the In-Text style. A summary is given below:
