VALE Brian Naval Historian Modern Period. BIOGRAPHY Born on May 26, 1938 BA Hons (History & Politics), University of Keele, 1960; Diploma in Education M Phil (History & Development in Brazil), Kings College, University of London 1972 Member of various Naval History societies (UK & Latin America) OBE (1977), CBE (1993), Medalha de Mérito Tamandaré (Brazilian) (1997) He focused on naval history in Britain and South America and he is currently working on maritime diseases during expeditions, especially about Scurvy. He was a British Council officer in Brazil, the Middle East and Spain and from 1987-1991 he served as Assistant Director General in London at the British Council London. He was a contributor to the official history of the Brazilian Navy. Since 1996, he has been Chairman, International Family Health, Treasure, later Auditor, Navy Dockyards Society, Council Member and Chairman Finance Committee, Navy Records Society.
