ABSTRACT
Outcrop sample assays for the period 1980 to 1983 are
presented, along with partial assaying of 1983 diamond drill
core and orientation testing of spruce bark biogeochemically.
A program of Wacker type overburden sampling is recommended
for the summer of 1985.

Claims L547115, L547116, L578316, L578324, L578329, L671238,
L671239, L714801 and L714805 averaging approximately 40 acres per
claim are part of a group of unpatented mining claims staked by the
writer under a grubstake agreement with Mr. D. Wiggins, 4 Trailside
Drive, Willowdale, Ontario and Mr. E. Edsvik, 1214 Canborough
Avenue, Pickering, Ontario. The claims are held in the name of
the writer, John T. Ward, 9 Willamere Drive, Scarborough, Ontario.
The group can be driven to be automobile by travelling five
miles north from downtov/n Kirkland Lake on a paved highway towards
the municipal airport and then one and one-half miles further
northw?-rd on an all-season gravel road servicing the cottages and
homes on the east side of Nettie Lake.
PREVIOUS WORK
line nut t in- r for geophysical surveying \v ; is initiated on
September 28, 1980 nnd geological surveying using these linos
wf'.s completed in the fn]l of 1983 (Ref.: Geological Survey.
Blewett, fountain Group, John T. Ward, April ?3, 1984). Three
diamond drill holer wore completed in the northeast corner of
Olain L547116 In tho fall of 198-1.
OUTCROP ASSAYS
From 1980 to 1983* outcrops encountered during geophysical
and geological surveying were assayed for gold from time to time.
No correlation or presence of gold values of interest were found
to correlate with minor disseminated sulphides, carbonatization,
sericitization or silicification. Four samples from an 8 foot
deep pit in altered tuffs at 24+OOS, Line 8E afforded scattered
low assays ranging from less than 2 ppb Au to 0.01 oz . Au per ton.
The higher assay was associated with fine quartz stringers.
Thicker quartz stringers (greater than 1/16 inch and up to 5
inches thick did not afford significant gold values where tested.
DIAMOND DRILL ASSAYS
Three diamond drill holes were completed in the northeast
corner of Claim L547116 in the fall of 1983 to test a VLF conduc
tor. The split half of the 7/8 inch core was bagged in 10 foot
sections. The sections with the most sulphides (39^ to 5^ dis
seminated pyrite) were assayed and the balance stored for later
assaying if warranted. Later microscope studies showed that the
disseminated sulphides present were primary a,nd associated with
the lowest grade of alteration. Assays ranged from nil to 10 ppb Au
B30GKOCHEV.3CAL ORIENTATION ASSAYING
Spruce b.'irk was assayed by neutron activation for gold on a
few samplon for orientation purposes. Anomalies up to 4 times the
Precambrian background correlated with S .P. and Resistivity at trie-
south end of the group. The control samples at 5-+OOS on the west
boundary being 2 to 3 times the Precambrian background may be
contaminated by expected anomalous mineralization underlying
Claim 1671238. The sample next to the 8 foot deep pit in bedrock
at 24+OOS, Line 8+OOE surprisingly returned only a background
value of 0.3 ppb Au in spite of the low erratic anomalous values
of gold encountered in the pit.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Direct correlation of spruce bark Au anomalies with S .P .
and Resistivity at 34+50S, Lines 12+00 E and 1 6+OOE indicate the
presence of anomalous gold values in the underlying bedrock. It
is recommended that this zone at the south end of the group be
tested by Wacker type overburden sampling to verify if the gold
values are likely to be of tenor high enough to warrant diamond
drilling.
Respectfully Submitted,
lJohri T.
