AbdelkhaderHaidaraAbdelkaderHaidara,borninTimbuktu,Mali,istheownerofoneofthemainmanuscript libraries in Timbuktu. He is the founder of Savama-dci, anassociation of family libraries that has coordinated the evacuation ofapproximately 2000 boxes of manuscripts belonging to 35 local families inOctober2012,whenthelibrarieswereatriskofdestruction.MrHaidaraisarenowned expert on Islamic manuscripts and a former employee of theAhmedBabainstitutewhichwaspartiallyburnedbyextremists.Since,hehasdevoted all of his time and energy to the preservation of his own family’s

manuscriptcollectionandwassuccessfulinsettinguptheMammaHaidaraMemorialLibrary,whichwasthefirstofitskindinMali.FerhadMulabegovic

FerhadMulabegovicworks at the Institute for theProtectionof theCulturaland Historical Heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina and D.D.DOM, Studije,Projektovanje,Inženjering,Sarajevo,StudioUrbing,Sarajevo.Heisengagedinmany fields concerning the protection of cultural heritage such as theprotectionofhistoricurbancentres,research,restorationandrehabilitationofhistoric monuments as well as in the field of documentations, studies anddesigns. Since 1998, Mr Mulabegovic has been a member of the UNESCOinternationalexpert teamengaged in thereconstructionof theOldBridge in

Mostar. He has been awarded the Prize of the Conservation Association of Yugoslavia on the fortiethanniversaryofprotectionofthehistoricmonuments(1945-1985)forcontributingtotheprotectionoftheheritage. He also received the prize Grand Prix Collegium Artisticum 2001 ASAS for the design of therestorationoftheMainPostOfficeinSarajevo(1995-2000).FatherNajeebMICHAEELo.p.

Father Najeeb Michaeel is a native of Sanat in northern Iraq, descendantfrom a Chaldean Catholic family. He became a Dominican monk in Lille,France,in1980,andpriestinStrasbourgin1987.HeisprofessorofPastoralTheologyandCommunicationattheFacultyoftheBabelCollegeinBaghdadand in Ankawa, Erbil since 1990. Father Najeeb Michaeel has been thearchivistof theDominicanOrder inMosulsince1988.Hewasamemberofthe ecumenical commission of bishops of the Nineveh Governorates from2001 to 2012, and the Director of CNMO "Digital Centre of Oriental

Manuscripts",based inMosul since 1990.Hedigitizedseveral thousandmanuscriptsandan importantarchive of the Iraqi churches and saved in-extremis this heritage fromdestruction byDa’esh inAugust2014.He is theFounding-Directorof the"DominicanResearchCentre forOrientalManuscripts" inErbil(2016).Today,helivesasarefugeeinKurdistantogetherwith130.000ChristiansdrivenoutofMosulandNineveh by the Islamic State. He is involved with humanitarian activities and leads two centers forChristianrefugeesandYezidisinErbil.FatherNajeedMichaeelisaPhDstudentspecializedin"Yezidism"attheUniversityofFribourg inSwitzerlandandgraduatedofthe"Higher InstituteofOil" inBaghdad in1977.

GeertBourgeoisGeertBourgeois is theMinister-PresidentoftheFlemishGovernment.He isalsotheministerresponsibleforforeignpolicyandbuiltheritage.GeerthasbeenaMinister intheFlemishGovernmentsince2004. In2009hebecameDeputyMinister-President,and in2014Minister-President.AftermorethantenyearsofengagementintheFlemishMovement,GeertBourgeois,lawyerby profession, entered into politics in 1977. First at a local level and since1995 at a national level when he became a member of the House ofRepresentatives. He specialized in particular in judicial affairs. In October

KarimaBennouneKarima Bennoune is a Professor of International Law at the University ofCalifornia,Davis,SchoolofLawandtheUnitedNationsSpecialRapporteurinthe field of cultural rights. Her first report to the Human Rights Counciladdressed the intentional destruction of cultural heritage. She is a formerlegal advisor for Amnesty International.Ms Bennoune’s topical writing hasbeen published widely, including by the New York Times, the Guardian,Reuters,andAlJazeera.Herrecentpublication,“YourFatwaDoesNotApplyHere:UntoldStoriesfromtheFightAgainstMuslimFundamentalism,”which

detailslocalstrugglesagainstextremism,isbasedoninterviewswithpeopleofMuslimheritagefrom30countries.Itwon the 2014Dayton Literary Peace Prize. The related TED talk, “When people ofMuslimheritage challenge fundamentalism,” has received over 1.36 million views. In 2016, Ms Bennounereceived the Rights and Leadership Award from the International ActionNetwork for Gender Equity&Law.

She founded one of the most importantcommunicationandpublic relations firms inMali.Also,MsN'Diayeholdsapostmaster’sdegree in strategicmanagementandcompetitive intelligencefromtheFrenchMilitaryschoolinParis.Inthatcontext,shehasconducteda

study on the "geo-economic Issues strategic in the Sahel-Saharan strip”. TomAdamiTomAdamiistheArchivistandHeadoftheArushaBranchoftheMechanismArchivesandRecordsSection(MARS)oftheUNMechanismforInternationalCriminalTribunals(UNMICT).UNMICTwasestablishedin2012tomanagetheresidual functions of the International Criminal Tribunals for Rwanda (ICTR)andtheformerYugoslavia(ICTY),includingthemanagementofthearchives.Withastaffof11archivistshemanagestherecordsandarchivesoftheICTR.Current projects being developed are addressing issues of access andpreservation of the archives. In particular, MARS is implementing a digital

The ISIL (Da'esh) & Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee and the 1988 SanctionsCommittee(Taliban)aresupportedbytheAnalyticalSupportandMonitoringTeam. The Monitoring Team was established pursuant to resolution 1526(2004) and is currently composed of nine experts. The mandate of theMonitoring Team is fully described in paragraphs 43 - 44 and the annexofresolution2160 (2014) and inparagraphs88 - 95 andannex I ofresolution2253(2015).Themandateincludesinteralia:

• to report to the SC Committees on the changing nature of the threat posed by Al-Qaida, ISIL(Da'esh)andtheTaliban,

• toconsult, inconfidence,withMemberStates’ intelligenceandsecurity servicesasmandated inAnnexI(v)oftheSecurityCouncilresolution2253;

• tomakerecommendationstoassistMemberStatestoimplementthemeasures;• toassisttheCommitteesintheconsiderationoflistingproposals;• to consult with Member States, United Nations agencies, other relevant organizations and

Regarding the illicit trade of cultural heritage as a source of terrorism financing, the Committeeincludedworksofartandculturalpropertyintheillustrativelistofassetsin2014asasuggestionoftheMonitoringTeam.InitsreportS/2014/815(November2014)onthethreatposedbyISILandANF,theMonitoring Team, noting that those groups may generate revenue from the smuggling and sale ofantiquitiesillegallytakenfromtheterritoryoftheSyrianArabRepublicorIraq,andrecommendedthatthe Chair request the Security Council to mandate a world-wide moratorium on the trading ofantiquitiesfromtheSyrianArabRepublicorIraqthatlackclear,certifiedprovenance.Inparagraph17of resolution2199 (2015)and reconfirmed in2253 (2015), suchabanwas introduced.Furthermore,theMonitoring Team ismandated to conduct impact assessments of these newmeasures includingmeasuresrelatedtoillicittradeofantiquitiesandtoreporttotheCommitteeinordertotrackprogresson implementation, identifyunintendedconsequencesandunexpectedchallenges.Finally, theMT isalso called to facilitate further adjustments to the sanctions regime through its regular assessmentsandreportsandhasdevelopedcontactswithrepresentativesoftheartmarket,museumsandrelevantorganizations, in particular with UNESCO. ChanceCoughenourChance Coughenour’s PhD research utilizes geomatics engineering andvirtual reality to improve archaeological investigations. He has worked onvariousprojectswhichapplydigitaldocumentationmethodstoarchaeologyandheritage inGermany,Belize,Mexico,CopanandPeru.His involvementon a project funded by the EU (ITN-DCH) connected him with MatthewVincent, with whom he together started Rekrei (formerly Project Mosul)after witnessing the destruction of heritage in northern Iraq. As the firstcrowdsourcedandopensourceinitiativeforthedigitalreconstructionoflost

heritage, the project was launched on 8 March 2015. The project aimed to crowdsource the virtualreconstructionofthedestroyedmuseumandeventuallyreleaseavirtualmuseumwherepeoplearoundthe world could virtually visit themuseum and offer a way to digitally preserve its memory. This hasalreadybeenaccomplishedthankstoEconomistMagazine’sMediaLab.Althoughtheoriginalartifactsandstructures can never be replaced, their cultural memory can be preserved thanks to uniting webdevelopment, reality-basedreconstructions,andcrowdsourcing.Rekreicontinuestoexpandonaglobalscale thanks to the growing participation of public and private organizations, such as the recentcollaborationwithOgilvyNewYork,PetGorilla,andUNESCO’s#Unite4Heritage.JacobDavey

Architect, planner, andcultural historian, Ms Hosagrahar has been engaged with planning, design,

and policies on urban development, urban conservation and heritage management, and sustainabilityissues.Foranumberofyears,shewasanexpertforUNESCOonhistoriccities,cultureanddevelopment,and urban sustainability. She is an expert for the UN Habitat III Policy Unit on Socio Cultural UrbanFramework,andhasheadedtheICOMOSTaskForceonCulturalHeritageandSustainableDevelopment.WithSUI,shehasdevelopedarangeofdesignsolutionsandstrategiesthatintegratecultureandculturalheritageintourbandesignanddevelopmentaswellasconceivedandorganizedaseriesofinternationalconferencestoinvestigatetherelationshipofculturalheritageforsustainableurbanfutures.
